Where I'm from, the only kind of resistance against the German army during ww2 were guerilla partisans (because the govt just ran away lmao).

Germans simply called them bandits, because they were not appointed by the govt, and slaughered them whenever they could. Since they weren't recognized as an army, they had no rights captured soldiers would get. They were, as far as the Germans were concerned, the criminals.

Not being classified as an army by your opponent is *worse* for you in every way. There's no geneva convention, there's no "wartime prisoner" bullshit, you're just a problem with a weapon, and get removed in the easiest way possible, and there will be no reprecussion for it, because you're the criminal here.

Your country is using you to further its interests on foreign soil, and giving you nothing in return, if what you are saying is true. Please stop :(

The Soviets disliked the Nazis, sure, but they apparently disliked the allied powers even more and were willing to help the Nazis destroy and occupy everyone who opposed Nazi Germany in Europe first. A similar relationship to the one they later had with the allies (except now on the defense rather than offense).

I find it really really funny, how both sides didn't want to have a shootout with the Germans, hoping they'd keep away the other side. West hoped the Nazis would rid them of the commie plague, and soviets hoped they'd keep the capitalist pigs out of their doorstep long enough. All the while the bad guy was right there all the time.

Of course soon after, ww2 broke out.

What I'm saying is that the west was really terrified of the encroaching commie "threat", and soviets were really terrified of the capitalist "threat", so they just let the nazis do their thing in the middle a lot longer than they had to.

At least, that's how I understood it. I'm quite possibly entirely wrong.

I guess this is only kinda on topic, but here in Slovenia we have a semi-large faction now being all apologetic about Nazi collaborations during ww2, by saying "but those partisan guys were even worse, look at all the collaborators they executed, they were just defending themselves".

Which is really odd, since anyone still alive is condemning any sort of bullshit and/or extra-judicial killings the commies did during/after the war, but apparently helping the occupier do their genocide thing and flag people you don't like for deporting to Dachau is fair game, if you're defending yourself against "bandits" and commies

For added hilarity, purges from both sides only happened during the war, and the great commie purge immediately after the war, here (since yugo commies were slightly less mental than their soviet friends... until the 90s, but I thankfully dodged that bullet by a couple hundred metres), so anyone that had any sort of real say in any of that is dead or at least well over 90, riding wheelchairs and trying to remember their own name.

I wish people would just condemn this poo poo and get on with the actual problems we have, but no, we have to try and rewrite history now so our faction looks better, which is going to take another 10 years of bickering about this crap in the media and doing dumb political manoeuvres around it, while the state keeps sliding into debt.

Speaking of Russian propaganda:

Kaspersky faked malware to harm rivals posted:

Kaspersky Lab in 2010 complained openly about copycats, calling for greater respect for intellectual property as data-sharing became more prevalent.

In an effort to prove that other companies were ripping off its work, Kaspersky said it ran an experiment: It created 10 harmless files and told VirusTotal that it regarded them as malicious. VirusTotal aggregates information on suspicious files and shares them with security companies.

Within a week and a half, all 10 files were declared dangerous by as many as 14 security companies that had blindly followed Kaspersky's lead, according to a media presentation given by senior Kaspersky analyst Magnus Kalkuhl in Moscow in January 2010.

When Kaspersky's complaints did not lead to significant change, the former employees said, it stepped up the sabotage.

Ljubljana's mayor is awesome. He made the old downtown area cars free and added free golf carts.

His mayor saga is quite the story.

He's being accused of being a corrupt fucker by just about everyone in the country. He got elected into parliament at one point, leaving his mayor post behind. He got elected mayor *again* on the election to replace his recently vacant spot (), because he couldn't become the prime minister (which isn't a bad thing, IMO he wouldn't have made a good PM), and when the mayor elections are up again, he'll probably win, as long as he's running.

People from other towns wonder what the poo poo is wrong with people here, why do they keep voting for the corrupt guy, but it's really simple. The previous 4 mayors spent the budget and then decided to go into debt some at about the rate he did, but had almost nothing to show for it. This guy managed to do more in his first term than the previous mayors did since the country went independent, this despite his budget being cut by 50% for a year due to having an unfavourable coalition in the parliament. At this point, the town is net profitable for the first time in modern history, finally shrinking its debts, too.

His "trick" is really bloody simple, too. He doesn't do all that much, but what he does well is getting the best people he can for the jobs that need doing, instead of hiring his family and friends for literally everything, which is what usually happens around here (instead he supposedly funnels cash through subcontractors into his own companies).

He lands at the airport, starts his car trip towards the capital, sees a new path and a conspicuous new thingy some 50m off the road that definitely wasn't there 2-3 years ago during his last visit. Decides to take a look.

Stops his car next to what appears to be a monument of some sorts. Looks fairly well built, probably expensive. He gets out, starts reading. The monument says, and I quote, "Dedicated to all those, who fell defending their country, religion, homes against the partisan threat," and then some other religious/patriotic bullshit I'll probably never remember.

Now, the only country that ever had to be defended against the partisan threat around here was the 3rd Reich, so I can understand how confused he was! After it was explained that that's the kind of poo poo we do in this country now, thanks to a growing revisionist faction, he was pretty pissed. It really says something about this lovely country when the first thing you stumble upon while driving from the airport to the capital town is a brand spankin new monument to Nazi collaborators. Today was a great day for Slovenia! Several years ago, the constitutional court figured out that since our constitution says laws shouldn't discriminate based race, status, gender, yadayada, the marriage law having the words "man and woman" in it is unconstitutional. The law was to be unchanged, except for "man and woman" changed to "two persons".

Today, we, again (there was a valiantly thwarted attempt to fix this back in 2012!) had a referendum, where people decided it's not okay to change this, because if it changes, those loving faggots will steal and adopt all our children, which has been the gay lobby agenda for a long time now.
