You need to fuse 4 shards together into a lesser enchant. This process has a 1% chance of success, so you need a coalescent ward, aka coal ward, as well. And by 'you' I mean 'the guy running an army of invocation bots who has a ton of coal wards that are bound to his account'. Lesser enchants are about 400k on the AH, aside from a few special cases like plaguefire, which come directly from lockboxes and are substantially cheaper. Plaguefire is a pretty good enchant btw.

Coal wards come very rarely from the celestial coffers (and they've been nerfed over time), and otherwise are $10 (500k AD) from the zen store. You can also buy them with trade-bars, but directly buying trade bar jackpots is more expensive in AD than just buying $10 worth of zen.

Got it. That's pretty much what I suspected, so no enchantments for me I guess.

A moment of silence please, today our beloved Cix got banned.

Met him earlier at the office when his account was still ok, guess this must have happened just a little later. Not sure yet if it's temp or perma.

Goofballs

Cix got banned although I think they might turn into a temp ban if he appeals it, dunno. Even if he wasn't banned its questionable if we could have gotten anywhere in stongholds anyway. Without the leadership armies its a non starter.

I dunno folks, this would be something lawful's lowest ebb. Can't see many staying people around for the coming mod and its not like you can expect a large return 6 months after that for the next mod. Well it had its ups and its had it downs. I'll still log in the odd time and I'll check out mod 8 if the game is still there. Free to play is really resilient so it might be. It is a hosed up time for the game though.

I think even bigger than the lack of wealth is just that the stronghold stuff might not be at all interesting. Some heroic encounters, some waiting for your lumberyard to produce it's daily wood, some terrible pvp, because 3 modes just wasn't enough (heaven forbid they try to balance any of them).

Regardless of that, I'll stick around for the first few weeks and make what progress I can. Between the stuff in the guild bank and some spare enchants I can rip off my alts, I should have enough resources and few million AD to play with. And if it's a horrible slog, or we can't ever make progress towards the actual good stuff, well there's always mod 8.

Appeal or no, is it worth sticking around? I had a go at FFXIV, but it didnt really click. Thoughts?

I only got it really because I'm cheap but I also want a faster mount. I was exaggerating a bit, but it does kick up this big white blob in the center of the screen that's probably going to make seeing stuff a bit of a problem. Gonna echo the sentiments of others in the thread and say that I'm really not interested in continuing to play the game in its current state. Without AD farms or cix, strongholds will be a laughable waste of time.

In the short term, any MMO time I have is going to ESO. I also play War Thunder and Payday 2 if anyone is interested in those. Like Goofs, I will log in every once in a while out of morbid curiosity, but I'm really getting the feeling this game is done for, so I'm honestly not going to put in the effort for a new OP anytime soon.

Its being going in this direction for some time, they kept moving the gear goalposts way waaaaay back while reducing the ways to get there. For a while that was mitigated by making the content way too easy but then they removed most of it and made what was left too rough for the normal level of gear. What mitigated this for us was leadership. Incidentally the older dungeons will reportedly not be back for strongholds, so its going to be the same 6, realistically 5 dungeons for the next few months. I wonder if I log in in mod 8 will people will still be making the pirate king jump in the hole. And like Dilb said its just going to be some HEs out in the stronghold area. Not a bad looking map but no one gives a poo poo about HEs.

And then there were choices that were just bizarre like increasing the xp needed to level. The road from 60-70 should have been shorter if anything because its wildly unfun and then after 70 you really need those power points to get rank 4 powers. Less of a big deal to me but totally obnoxious to anyone who hasn't been around for the 3 prior mods. I don't know what to make of that. They're selling huge xp boosters now which might have something to do with it but even for them it seems a bit silly to think that's good move if we were supposed to draw that conclusion.

I don't know why they think it should be this way. Some people blame pwe for being a bunch of idiots putting the squeeze on way too tight and other think its the devs making choices that they think are smart while being overworked and working with an engine made of melting cheese. Not our problem, we just tried to play the thing.

I think they're only active on the stronghold map. I think the point is to make lower level characters viable on the map. Of course that completely fucks your gearing for pvp if you care about that. If you want to see some funny poo poo look at the new mounts. +4000 arp or get this, 35% of your daily bar back when you use a daily. Absolutely nothing about power creep was learned which is funny when mod 6 was the mod that reset gear because it had gotten so out of control.

We had the same question with similar events in STO and every Cryptic employee that would speak on the topic was more than willing to point to PWE mandates being shoved down their throats. As you said, though, it doesn't really matter in the end.

From the dev blog:

quote:

Rickcase276: Will the smaller guilds (i.e. less than 10 accounts) be able to acquire the necessary dragonshards to buy the new dragonflight armor another way within the game, as there is little chance for those size guilds to have 5 members online at the same time to be able to do the dragon HEs? I know there is the rumored lockbox item to acquire them, but that is not a guarantee to get them.

You will need to field enough people to bring down 2 dragons (this can be as few as 10 per dragon, depending on your gear of course) to make progress towards the best-in-slot gear that comes from the Dragonflight event. If you get access to a strongbox key (new in M7 and tied specifically to the Dragonflight event), you can make progress by defeating 1 dragon. Again, this is best-in-slot gear and the fight is meant to be tough.

Teribad15: Will there be any upcoming class balance changes?

We will be monitoring player behavior and feedback once Module 7 goes live. Based on that observation and feedback, we may decide to make class balance changes. That said, at launch there are no large class-balance changes.

Well gently caress, even if everyone hadn't left, we wouldn't have stood a chance at the new equipment. 20 BiS people at once to get even a single dragonshard, unless you use a lockbox item. On top of that, no class balance changes, so to all the classes that are terrible in PvP, sucks to be you, enjoy all our work on Stronghold PvP.

Yeah. I had been soloing almost everything because I tend to play at night. But with any chance of goon socialization (and goonerosity at the guild bank) gone, I haven't logged in in like 2 weeks. I'll probably keep checking in to see if they reverse the leadership change and just put in a captcha or something.

Why did Cix get banned?

Goofballs
Jun 2, 2011

Its unclear. They didn't send him any emails. He built an ingame profession bot which is a thing mmos traditionally do ban for but the account he tested it on didn't banned, just the other two including his playing account. Its fabulously hard to get permanently banned in Neverwinter though. Haven't seen him on steam in two days but he had some tickets in to support but heard nothing back.

In other news skyforge is an odd game. The combat doesn't have the oomph neverwinter's does but its prettier and I'm low level so maybe it gets better.

This might also amuse http://steamcharts.com/app/109600#1y You can hit 1 year to really see it. The steam population might be different to the rest of the population playing the game but I don't really have a compelling reason to think people who log in through the launcher or arc are all that different. You would think they would want to do a uturn but its full steam ahead. apb carried on with shittier numbers so its probably not going anywhere.

I'm going to try my absolute best to keep things going now that I've sorted my login issues and can get back on - at the very least I'd like to keep doing dungeon runs with people, but barring that I'm reaching out to a few other people I know in game who are also totally facewrecked by how stupid these changes are and who knows, maybe try to get a bunch of people to migrate over to our dear Something Lawful so we've got enough warm bodies to grind yet another mindless treadmill.

I'll do my best to keep the flame burning here. I don't know how much a guild can progress if it's understaffed like that but it seems like the new resources are going to be a bottleneck, so maybe it's not too hopeless?

Anyway, if they keep doing those double AD events things are going to get pretty Rhixdiculous. I am still refining the overage in AD I racked up just by getting the skirmish quest from Rhix and doing shirmishes during one skirmish hour.
