I recently binge-watched this media content and found it to be consistently funny with no dud episodes. A few B-plots didn't really do it for me but it would never really drag an episode down. It's like Parks and Rec in tone but with more jokes and also funnier jokes, and especially a more fun main character.

As someone who only got into the show recently it does not seem much more cartoonish now than the earlier episodes did. Maybe like 5% more. I'm okay with that. Cartoons are funny. It certainly has not gone off the rails. If anything this season has avoided some of the pitfalls it seemed to be heading toward. The boring romance plot is basically gone and secret trysts between Gina and Boyle was also kept short and funny instead of being some cliche dramafest. I'd prefer my comedy show to err on the side of trying too hard to be funny than not hard enough. I find a lot of comedy shows nowadays focus too much on stuff like continuity porn and sappy emotional stuff. I like those things too, but I'm glad Brooklyn Nine Nine prioritizes being funny.

Metalshark posted:Although Jake, Amy, Sofia and Teddy had a rough go of it personally, the latest episode featured pretty much the only successful prisoner transfer in a TV show/film/comic that I can remember. Man I forgot that was what they were doing completely and just assumed they had picked up a hitchhiker.

This show probably has the highest success rate of cold opens making me laugh of any show I've seen.

Yeah, the guy without a daddy is the one with daddy issues. Explain that logic!
