Hopefully the scaling and loot drops don't completely suck this time.

Axton is actually very fun to play if you take his movement speed skills, though.

RoS was just an expansion for Diablo 3 but that added a lot of nice improvements to the core formula. Just because you're not reinventing the wheel doesn't mean you can't make tweaks where they're needed.

Did anyone else experience a thing where your shield would recharge insanely fast? Like, so fast it would recharge as you were being damaged? It made the raid boss pretty easy.

Why are the vehicles so goddamn bad? The laser one's turret is weaker than the front machine guns. It took me 3 tries to find the one true jump out of one spawn point but even hitting it full speed planted me 10 feet below the other ramp (there were several other obvious looking jumps straight into endless seas of lava). And one time the piece of junk just randomly exploded when I hit a bump.

Have you gotten the stingray yet? It's one of the best vehicles ever put in a BL games IMO. I agree that that jump is really lovely though. It reeks of not being play-tested.

Good news guys, there is a working CE table for item rarity. Takes a bit of work to get going but it exists at least. First, download the table here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_f11g1DlLhDc2RvVEhpZ2cyNmM&usp=sharing

I'm using the one with .ct on the end, not sure if there's any difference. Once you've got the table, follow this guy's instructions:

quote:

Open the table, and don't execute the lua. Next hit ctrl-alt-L, then find this section:
RarityChances_Grouped =
{
Weight_0_VeryCommon = "4:44 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 2C
Weight_1_Common = "4:46 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 2E
Weight_2_Uncommon = "4:48 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 30
Weight_3_Uncommoner = "4:49 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 31
Weight_4_Rare = "4:50 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 32
Weight_5_VeryRare = "4:51 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 33
Weight_6_Legendary = "4:52 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216" -- ID 34
}

Then replace the above block of code with this:

RarityChances_Grouped =
{
Weight_0_VeryCommon = "4:45 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 2D
Weight_1_Common = "4:47 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 2F
Weight_2_Uncommon = "4:50 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 32
Weight_3_Uncommoner = "4:51 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 33
Weight_4_Rare = "4:52 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 34
Weight_5_VeryRare = "4:53 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216", -- ID 35
Weight_6_Legendary = "4:54 w:20 4:0 4:1 4:* 4:0 4:0 4:1065353216 4:1065353216" -- ID 36
}

Then File-Save, after that execute the script.

The changes don't take effect immediately so don't be disheartened if you don't notice anything right away. I'm getting purples out the rear end now.

I'm kind of interested in picking this up at some point, but I'm worried about the end-game. What's the grind like? Are the drop-rates more reasonable than they were in Borderlands 2? Have they said anything about the potential for another UVHM? UVHM turned me right the gently caress off last time around, I just really hope it doesn't end up being a grindy snooze-fest like it was before.

The drop rates are only better with regards to the items of the day in the stores. As far as can tell, the poo poo you that drops from enemies and chests is just as lovely. Whites and greens 95% of the time. They added a grinder and special chests that makes things a bit better though.

I found a pink supernova too. Weird. Also the luneshine affixes are hilariously useless. Probably the only good one is the one to bypass shields and even that is pretty iffy.

Maybe I missed a line of dialogue or two, but what was the point of raising a robot army that can't be bothered to show up? You go through the whole trouble of building the constructor only to have it never show up again, despite the fact that Jack emphasizes that he needs it now to take back Helios. Even on the assault on the station, the only robots you enlist are ones you hack on site! He sends a handful to the vault site, and you test them with the orbital drop system, but that's all I can think of. Was there a point to that quest arc at all, other than to give an unnecessarily specific origin for the constructors and loaders?

Hammerlock.

No idea, I was wondering the exact same thing. You beam up to Helios expecting to kill poo poo with the robot army you went to all the trouble of acquiring and then it turns out it's still just you, yourself, and you against the enemies.

The final bosses in Borderlands 2 and this have great loot-splosions. As does Iwajira.

Pretty sure he was talking about the final reward for the Torgue DLC, which I have to agree was pretty disappointing. It'd be nice if more bosses were like the end-of-act bosses in Diablo 3, where you would pretty much be guaranteed a legendary or two and a ton of rares.

The drop rates are significantly better, at least for legendaries. I have 1250 hours in BL2 and 100 in TPS and so far, I've gotten as many legendaries from regular enemies in TPS as I have from regular enemies in BL2. From the playthroughs I've done so far, it seems like at least 1 random boss is going to drop a legendary for me whereas the only real hope I'd get for a legendary in any given BL2 playthrough was from the warrior. This is of course, not factoring in farming. I've gotten 3 legendaries so far in my latest TPS playthrough (not factoring in machines) and that is a godsend from BL2's standard.

I guess I've seen more legendaries too but I don't think that's a good way to judge the overall quality of the loot drops. A couple more legendaries here and there ain't much of an improvement if you're still getting white and greens 95% of the time.

I've been swimming in blues and purples without even using the grinder its definitely better than bl2.

Where have you found most of your blues and purples. I know the blue moonstone chests and vendor items of the day have a good chance to be blue or higher but outside those two things I'm not really seeing anything that great.

AHungryRobot
Oct 12, 2012
Before I used cheat engine I probably averaged around 1 blue for every 15 chests I opened. I probably saw 2 purples in all the chests I opened in a playthrough, not counting the ones you have to spend moonstone on. The grinder's a nice addition but I like the idea of finding nice things in world drops and chests fairly often too, like BL1 had.

I thought BL2's DLCs were pretty hit-or-miss, honestly. Torgue and Tiny Tina were good but Scarlet was meh and Hammerlock was just awful. The extra characters were probably the best ones IMO.

The whole idea is to not make the game stupidly trivial, since everyone playing UVHM 50+ is going to have like, purple/orange in every slot.

Purples are good but I don't think they don't come close to trivializing the game or w/e. The only legendary I can think of that really takes away a lot of the challenge is the unkempt harold.

Interfacer as a lesser but still really good replacement for DPUH on Sal

It really depends on your definition of "trivialize". If the game was tuned so that any character using any build with any gear could beat it then most setups with the slightest amount of thought put in would destroy everything.

Edit: By "beat it", I mean do so without 30 minute fights where you slog through it.

Sham + Norfleet is a good contender for a DPUH but I'm not too sure about the other ones you listed.
