Say what you will about Kuvira, she kept the weird earth bending trains on time.
It's truly impressive that she managed to construct and maintain a railway that goes all across a nation that was in chaos.

Why is making a cast more diverse a controversy? There aren't enough Asian actors in Hollywood to begin with, just because he hired a few Indians doesn't make it a controversy.

The controversy was the entire main cast being white, until Jesse McCartney was replaced with Dev Patel. Then the fire nation was decided to be Indian, and they brought in Inuit extras to play the Water Tribe background characters. Sokka and Katara mysteriously are still white depsite the rest of their tribe, leading to a new controversy of all the heroes being white while the villains and background characters are diverse.

In the comics there's been a couple minor appearances of an underground rebel group of Ozai supporters led by Mai's father. Which I think is going to be the focus of the next comic trilogy.
It' also been shown that Zuko has had a number of assassination attempts that his Kyoshi Warrior bodyguards have had to deal with.

What the hell else was she going to do with that weapon, ride up on a train and point it at the city? The rails would've been metalbent into the stratosphere by that point

What if they loaded it on the train, and then had a team of metalbenders onboard that pick up the train and fly it around.

Kyoshi lived to be 230 years old, but using that as an actual world building detail for lifespans is iffy because it wasn't really written intentionally, and more due to Bryke not thinking through the full implications of dates they gave for different events and avatars.

It's not like Korra ever used her past lives anyway. She spent most of her life being unable to connect with them. Then after she could she only talked with Aang like twice, and spoke with Wan before losing the connection again forever.

That reminds me, Korra was apparently the first person to have ever tamed a polar bear-dog.
It's a shame Naga wasn't more present in the story, and we didn't get any flashbacks about that like with Appa.
