fun fact: monsters use completely different math for spell damage than players. notably, their magic dart & stone arrow do a lot more damage, and fireball/bolt of fire scale differently (orb of fire fireballs actually do more damage than their bolts of fire)

iron shot is still really good, tho, so that works out.

gotta minotaur monk of ru who's sac'd his hand and transmutations (doh) and I've found singing sword @XL9 with unarmed at 13.5 or so. i've got some mut and cmut potions, was gonna shoot for claws but now I'm not sure if I should make long blades my main weapon or ride it out with unarmed with no blade hands.

edit: i've never used singing sword before, the wiki says something about it doing irrisistable damage to all monsters in LoS, how good is it really? Ru's aura and powers are already pretty impressive at 4 piety.

it does not, although the wiki says that dodging attacks increases how often the headbutt happens.

wiki re: headbutt - Can stun opponents, delaying them for up to 7 auts. Minotaurs occasionally counter enemy attacks that miss with this.

I generally switch to heavier weapons when I can swing them at 1.0 aut, checking with ctrl-direction and looking at my turncount and everything. There are probably better metrics to operate by, but that one seems to work well for me.

The wiki says most brands add damage proportional to how hard you hit but electrocution and distortion add a fixed amount, so it makes sense it would be really good on a fast weapon like a whip. Maybe you already knew that but I'm posting it here because I'm still figuring out which weapons are good or bad.

i think flaming, freezing, holy and vorpal are the only ones that go entirely off base damage. the rest generally have some kind of on-hit effect which is better on fast weapons, or else have effects which arent really dependent on either base dmg or speed.

so, elec is one of those ones which is a lot better on fast weapons. it's not as good as it looks though, because it's useless against flying enemies.

yeah i was familiar with how elec adds flat damage per hit but it's hard to get a sense for how good that is vs ordinary bigass weapons. anyway it seems to still be killing stuff faster than anything else i've got

The elec whip is really good early but it falls off because it has terrible base damage. If you have min delay it's not going to stand up to a branded demon whip/eveningstar/dire flail/great mace.
