ded posted:I really thought it was cool how I was asked no less than 15 times if I smoked pot in boot camp, and every time I said no they tried to give me poo poo about it "its ok man you can come clean!". When I started ROTC this ancient Marine colonel was the one asking and he just kept acting angrier and angrier each time he asked and I denied it. He also started out asking how many times rather than if, I wonder if anyone was dumb enough to get caught by that obvious trick.

Wingnut Ninja posted:Also I passed my weigh-in because I could stretch for that extra half inch, get my height rounded up, and earn five more pounds. So I always knew that the tape test is inaccurate but until this cycle I had no idea how bad it really was. We had a guy fail at 24% body fat in the spring cycle. He lost 15 pounds and due to the way he lost it, they measured him at 13% body fat this cycle. That was literally impossible. Not only was he obviously not 13% body fat, but at his weight he would have had to lose over 20 pounds of fat to go from 24 - 13.

Wait, are you implying that an incompetent commander would project his inability, inadequacy, and fear of being in over his head onto his subordinates, becoming tyrannical and micromanaging to the point of paralyzing real decision making? Unthinkable!

Hey remember when three star deputy STRATCOM admiral Giardina got fired for making fake casino chips? Full report is hitting the news. I'd like to call attention to a couple things quote:The state investigator's report also said a review of surveillance footage revealed "odd behaviors" by Giardina at the Horseshoe. So nuke admirals are even weirder than lower rank nukes. Good to know. quote:The Navy chose not to pursue a court martial because they were uncertain they could get a conviction with the evidence they had, officials said. Which of course means that the guy is going to continue to make $200,000 a year as someone's coffee maker and powerpoint ranger in the Pentagon before he retires to a cushy job and full pension. The system works! (hang all flag officers)

Mr. Nice! may be able to help me here, but the Captain who had command of LAKE ERIE will never come close to the Captain who had command of PORT ROYAL following the grounding. I work at Fleet Forces now, and even here, 3,000+ miles away, ol' JT is known for being completely unemployable and impossible to work with here or in DC, much less work for. Captain Graf only exceeds JT because she was caught. I'd challenge you and compare notes but I don't feel like dredging things out of the memory banks. Suffice to say, it seems like being an incompetent douchenozzle is a requirement for command at sea.

Mind you, there was a period of time where I wasn't on these forums consistently (maybe 8-10 months) and I know GBS had a lot of contentless posts, but making it a giant one-note joke seems a bit extreme. I fail to see how making it BYOB lite where BYOB is FYAD-lite is an improvement. Just my opinion... I haven't been lurking as long as you but I definitely am familiar with the reason things like goonrushes are banned: 1% of posters are genuinely funny and 99% just repeat the joke in hopes that they will be funny too.
