Dust off that OIF Veteran hat folks, the best time of year to be a welfare queen is coming up quick. If you didn't already know, a ton of different companies offer meal deals on Veteran's day to active duty, reserve and veterans, ranging just a bloomin onion at Outback to an entire meal at Applebee's. In addition, other companies are offering discounts and perks as well, like car washes, haircuts and discounts at the Dollar General. Someone was nice enough to compile a list of all participating companies, so get your schedule ready, it's gonna be a full day of milking this holiday for all it's worth!

2014 Veterans Day Free Meals and Discounts

To get free poo poo you need proof of service. Most companies require some form of military ID. These include: a Military ID Card (active/reserve/retired), Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), Drivers License with Veterans Designation, Photograph in uniform, be wearing uniform (if your service permits), Veterans Organization Card (e.g., American Legion and VFW), DD214, discharge paperwork, or other form of identification. Other restaurants and companies may go by the honor system.

It might be a good idea to call ahead and make sure your local Chili's supports are troops on the 11th. You also might want to avoid going anywhere within 50 miles of a military base, as those places are guaranteed to be packed with joes from 5 til 10.

Yeah, living near DC-Annapolis-PG County means most non-chain restaurants probably won't be offering poo poo. I'll probably just go spend my "fat" GS pay and show my academy ring at Jos A. Banks for some throw down suits.

Edit: Thanks for the Golden Corral reference too.
