Gridlocked posted:Holy poo poo is that Journey Man Project? It was one of the first games I played on our BRAND NEW PACKARD-BELL WINDOWS 95 COMPATIBLE PC!!! It's also the first time I used a non DOS based system. It was new and exciting. I still have the computer, and would like to get it running since it's the easiest way to get games like Resident Evil 1 and a poo poo ton of old DOS games to work. Got a Sound Blaster Pro and a Voodoo 3 in there.

Did anyone else get the Mortal Combat album by The Immortals in '95? If you have never heard this before, it's where the classic MK theme came from. At least listen the the Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Rayden ones. It's so bizarre. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL577E545387C04A3E

Wheat Loaf posted:I was watching some old (season three) episodes of The Simpsons earlier, and I was wondering, is there a clear break between "Bartmania" and Homer becoming the main character, or was it more of a gradual thing? It seemed like it happened kind of quick, mostly due to lazy writing/loosing their best writers to other projects. At some point in the mid-late 2000's, they began bringing in tons and tons of special guests and wrote basically the same episode over and over. Intro with no relation to the rest of the story to pad time, Homer does something dumb and Marge gets mad, special guest and Lisa/Bart do something usually mildly related to what Homer is doing, Homer fixes the situation and Marge forgives him. There was some variety in there, but that was the bulk of episodes for a very long time. I haven't seen the Simpsons lately, so I don't know if they changed up the formula or not yet. Homer is probably the easiest character to write for.

I think it's been in the thread a few times, but it's always welcome back. Someone has a whole bunch of compilations of 90's kid show themes. Reading a description if the Manglors sounded familiar to me, but I don't think I actually saw any of them or knew anyone who owned one. It did remind me of Stretch Armstrong''s evil nemesis though. Vac-Man. I did own that.

Pretty sure I brought it up before, but the 1994 Mortal Kombat soundtrack is preeeeeeeeetty 90's to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPSBJcL3FGI Edit: I did in fact bring this up. It's still so bizarre. I guarantee the cassette version of this is still sitting somewhere at my parent's place. Double Edit: Is it just me, or is 90's techno super easy to identify? I don't listen to much electronica stuff, but there seems to be something about 90's and early 2000 techno that just dates it. The Repo Man has a new favorite as of 10:52 on Apr 15, 2017 |

Wheat Loaf posted:I remember it and I was allowed to watch it but I distinctly recall my own father saying it was one of the worst things he'd ever seen. I don't remember 2 Stupid Dogs being a gross out show. It was okay from what I remember of it. Cow and Chicken was horribly bad. 90% of the shows on Cartoon Cartoons were even worse, but I think that's where Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, and Family Guy got their starts. Or maybe it was What A Cartoon, and that was on during Cartoon Cartoons. Either way it was awful. The Repo Man has a new favorite as of 02:34 on Apr 19, 2017 |

You know, I couldn't remember what JNCO jeans were so I looked them up. I think I found the perfect picture of the type of person who wears them. Edit: So, thinking about it more I actually knew someone who wore them, but he was a pretty good guy who started his own shirt screen printing business in high school. Still, they look amazingly bad.
