It's just a good way to trick kids into not messing with bird nests. Like when they say to wait an hour after eating before you go swimming. "You'll cramp up and drown" is a lot more convincing than "Why can't you little shits sit still for fifteen goddamn minutes we are on vacation for god's sake"

That's pretty interesting. Usually doing something like that is saying that you trust them to take your place, to be the person who will represent you and your legacy after you're gone. When you name somebody after yourself, you're saying "I believe that one day you will be the person I wish I could be, you are all my pride and joy in this world," so it's interesting that it's being directed at this cute little bird. And I'm guessing your name isn't William.
