the problem also is that a lil bitty glass fuse is probably gonna arc even after it has broken with hvdc, causing a loving huge short which can lead to a plasma ball directly to your face

Sagebrush posted:so can i get ceramic fuses of the same rating to replace the glass ones in my multimeter or are they necessarily different sizes? you could do that but usually a "safe" meter is more than that. Like they will be designed in a way that there is no other possible arc-point in the build (between connectors and what not). also most of them will have blast proofing around the fuse and the connectors

if you need >70MHz it's that you're not working on audio circuits or old computers and that's the problem

The quality's not good and it's 2 hours but you should all watch this and then buy an analog oscilloscope https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZKMrzTGxLQ

If you guys buy a cheap chinese scopes (Rigol DS1054Z for instance, honestly thats quite a good scope for the price), google around and you might find some keygens to upgrade your scopes for free like you can make your 400$ 50 MHz DS1054Z into a 830$ 100 MHz DS1104Z for free. because they all use the same board.

Mido posted:i have a rigol in this series :0 RIGLOL be warned that while you can "flash back" to your old software using a PC, i think you cant change back your model number (100MHz -> 50 MHz) thus voiding your warranty. So if you care about your warranty dont upgrade your frequency

10 MHz on a breadboard is possible as long as you keep in mind to build everything as compact as possible

whats a good cheap (<200$?) function generator? mostly need it for audio (aka low as f) frequencies and to calibrate 100 MHz analog oscilloscope (meh) not afraid to buy used or analog i was leaning toward an old Wavetek 182a (4MHz) but i havent given it more than 10 minutes

yo to all my yosbros, theres a chinese seller on ebay selling Fluke 17B+ for $13 shipped right now. it's a typo cause he usually sells them for $121.99. I don't know if its a scam but mine is "shipped" without a tracking number. even if he doesnt ship and he doesnt delliver i guess itll be pretty easy to get a refund from ebay/paypal so its pretty risk free to get a p good multimeter all this meter is missing is true rms, otherwise its a very good, and very safe, multimeter for its usual price range (~$100) the 17B+ even has backlight as opposed to the 17B
