This finally clicked for me after listening to the Newport episode. But now I've listened to way too much of it over the last week or so and Dave's laugh is starting to give me Ricky Gervais vibes. :(

yup, that sure looks like somebody designed it on a napkin

I thought Action Park was the safari place that shut down and left all the animals behind. Am I making that up? Is that a thing?
That's Jungle Habitat.

The story about "they just packed up and left the animals there" seems to be an urban legend though.

After listening to the episode on him I Watched Man In The Wilderness, the 70s movie based on Hugh Glass. Thought it was gonna be a badass revenge movie but it's actually about a guy who realizes he shouldn't have abandoned his kid after his wife died. It's not bad but could have used more blood and crawling for miles (his injuries seem kind of mild compared to the real story, he mostly limps around a bunch). Kinda disappointing.

Can't wait for Iñárritu's movie about him with Tom Hardy and DiCaprio, that seems like it will be closer to the real story. Although how the gently caress Hardy ISN'T playing Hugh Glass in that remains a mystery to me.

The Three Jesuses thing really reminded me of The Physicists, but it's real life so it just turns out their doctor is a manipulative rear end in a top hat. I think the play was written shortly after the experiment too, not sure if there's a connection.

Now that the two guys in question have appearantly found a solution they can both live with ... would all you guys who never posted in here before the drama kindly grab your outrage and gently caress off again?

This show needs more episodes about drunken riots where nobody really gets hurt.

The radium girls are featured briefly in the David Hahn episode. I listened to that episode again fairly recently, and I forgot just how loving bananas it was.
I knew the broad strokes of the story since Vonnegut uses it in Jailbird (I think one of the protagonist's love interests is a descendant of the people who ran the factory where they made the clocks) but hearing about the ensuing legal battle was pretty nuts.

Competitive Tickling. And I guess purity balls, though that wasn't really about a specific event.

The only one between the new ep and the really early ones that comes to mind is the one about Eric Red.

If you like weird old medical history, there is a podcast called Sawbones where a doctor and her husband talk about weird medical history. It covers some of the same topics as the Dollop but there isn't too much overlap.
I checked this out because I generally like the McElroy boys but this kind of thing just works way better for me if both hosts are funny.

The ep I listened to covered the same topic as The Stomach Men, just in way less detail when it came to the actual relationship between the two guys. It's also crazy to hear the difference between a doctor and a comedian's version of the story.

I thought taking down the episode was really funny, especially since I didn't notice any grave audio problems with it either.

Also for anyone who's wrestling with his precious feelings about the podcast over this, the episode's still on Soundcloud.

I watched Proect Nim about a year ago and have waited for the Dollop on this ever since. Great episode.

Really reccommend watching the documentary, it has a ton of footage shot throughout Nim's life.

I have a feeling the reason Gareth's story stops at the landfill is that most of his reverse Dollops are based on documentaries he's watched, like Atari: Game Over for this or Project Nim for the last one.

I still love JJHo but it feels like they're doing way more docket-clearing eps lately.

I had high hopes for Wham Bam Pow when it started because Cameron & Rhea are great on other stuff and I love bad action movies and people making fun of them. That show is such a wet fart though.

The radio show is Opie & Jim now, Cumia was finally fired in 2014 for being a racist shithead. Then he started his own subscription-based video podcast thing, which is adding new shows, so I guess he still has his audience?

I'm guessing Dave was referencing this.

Dave Anthony has been bugging me for awhile. The dreary tone is partly why, but content is another. The last few months of modern America podcasts have been inaccurate beyond what I can tolerate even for comedy. His starry eyed history of unions beats anti-unionism for sure, but most unions outside the IWW and a select few were adamantly opposed to socialism long before their absorption into the Democratic Party. How on earth does a story about unions in America miss the Knights of Labor, Gomper, union elitism over skilled vs unskilled, racial divisions, or the original AFL? If you want to talk about some cool popularly forgotten movements: talk about the Wobblies, and not some garbage about mid twentieth history unionism. The hardhat episode was laughable when compared to actual labor histories.

They wouldn't even have to shoot a scene in the crowd. Harry (or, better, one of the art department nerds because Harry works with models and such a lot) comes into the office, starts excitedly describing what went down to someone, Joan comes around the corner, he compares her boobs to Francine's, gets slapped. Cut to Don in the doorway to his office smirking while sipping on his 8th drink that morning. "loving amateurs", he says to himself.

It writes itself.

(also lol almost no crowd scene you see on TV or in movies these days is filmed with that actual amount of extras)
