If you're on the slightly pricier end, maybe a capture card or mic to be able to do their own streaming/lp. It may be unleashing another pewdiepie into the world, but maybe it's a psychedelic eyeball instead. If the kid's already that far into gaming, then it's pretty easy to say that the YouTube wave of celebrity/culture is a appropriate fit

Find a local print shop and ask them to check out their paper socks. You're probably looking for something in the 110# range. Most of what they have will be in 11"x17" or 22"x17" size, but they can use a guillotine cutter for next to nothing. Find something you like from a huge range of literally professional stocks, order a few hundred blank sheets, and you'll probably end up paying only about a 10%ish markup from the bulk paper price (which will be surprisingly cheap)

Define photography and video. Just consuming, or also creating? If the latter, just the usual point/shoot stuff or heavier duty like RAW files from SLR cameras? Saving stuff straight from video to upload to Youtube/etc, or working with heavy-duty editing software like Premiere?

What level of technical experience on the user side? Normal/advanced, or just basic?

Any real restrictions on screen size/resolution?

I need a simple, easy to use invoicing program. Free would be ideal, but cheap would be alright too. I do very very simple invoicing for events mostly so the client feels better about writing a check, not as any part of my book keeping process, so all I really need is a program with a basic invoice template that can auto-fill some categories. I've been using a program called EasyInvoice, but it's a piece of poo poo (crashes constantly) and I want something better.

Why not have someone on samart slap together a word/openoffice template? Sounds like you don't actually need a program at all

I know this isn't samart (I don't mind posting there to keep things kosher), but I have a license for Quickbooks 2015 Pro windows desktop (meaning offline and no monthly fees) that I could transfer to you for half of whatever retail price you can find. I paid a couple hundred on it for a failed business and it'd be nice to make a little back while helping someone else out

Honestly, for your use case I'd say a safe is a bad idea since it screams "steal me". You should get a couple waterproof boxes like http://www.walmart.com/ip/Outdoor-Products-Smart-Phone-Watertight-Case-Orange/36547606 and duplicate what you have stored. For something this critical, you should also be redundant since storage methods are so cheap. Put the key files and whatnot on thumbdrives made by 2 different manufacturers (as in the actual chips inside, not just the case's branding) and also burn a copy of the data to a CD. Maybe even print out a base-64 version hardcopy of the file in case everything goes to hell so you can OCR it as a last-ditch recovery effort.

As far as exactly what you're storing, you should create a truecrypt 7.1a volume (Or whatever other equivalent) and store all of your keyfiles and password lists and whatnot in there. DON'T give it the same type of password that you use on sites like "av%m-4dZ8[uST$.Fxs[a2mf5H-V@{A-s" - instead, create an actual passphrase using a sentence or even an entire paragraph (and stick your "normal" strong password on the end for good measure). If you can't be positive about remembering the password, go for one of the regular mnemonic devices like picking a line from a book or something like that. Store the source book in your safe deposit box, and you can just save the page number and line/paragraph/sentence/whatever number along with the file. Hell, you could even just make it the filename like "00524.22.tcv". Since you're also tacking on a remembered password, you don't need to worry about people getting the full sentence from your clue.

Once you're done making your file, keep a crapload of copies of it. Keep a waterproof backup kit in your house, in your car, at your work, and with your parents or SO or something like that. Keep a copy of your encrypted file on every physical hard drive you own, on every phone you have, on every thumbdrive you have, and on every webserver you have (though not necessarily in a public directory). Remember, you encrypted the hell out of the file, so you could feel safe plastering it on a billboard.

e: Oh, and of course keep a copy of the source code and binaries for each major OS of the encryption software along with the file - you don't want to need to use the file in 15 years and be hosed when you can no longer find a trustworthy copy

Vvv: drat, only about $30?! I knew physically written discs were a thing, but I thought they were still restricted to industrial/university

Is there such a thing as a mid-range card shuffler? One that's not those cheap $20 dollars ones that break after 3 rounds and that's not one of those $300 dollar casino grade ones.

No, and you should also stay away from the $300 "casino-grade" ones. If you need an actual automated shuffler, basically the only good brand is Shuffletech and their low-end is in the $600 range. And as a note, said low end has some issues with being loud and could jam depending on what brands of cards you use. An actual casino-grade shuffler is in the $2000 range if you can find one for sale at all, and that's not counting the maintenance costs on if you're running it a lot.

You can justify the cost for a raked home/underground game or if you have the budget for a $10k+ man cave, but in any other situation you're much better off self-dealing and having 2 active decks of cards where the small blind shuffles their deck for the next hand

vvv: True enough, especially if you're talking about one that's like new. I was just thinking of the couple threads I saw on chiptalk a while ago about some people that got their hands on used in-table ones for somewhere around that amount

How large? If you only want a small one for a single person, I'm actually using https://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Switcher-Selector-Extractor/dp/B00QJGAKCW/ with a good 1080p lcd monitor that i found on clearance. It's worked perfectly for me for the past few months, and I haven't had any issues with audio lag or hdcp at all (which is my main concern with any breakout boxes)

E: also, check slickdeals.com to see which black friday tvs are decent in case you feel like standing in line or paying a bit extra from a flipper on craigslist

Protip: don't buy something for a person that's in a category they're really passionate about unless you're an expert in that field. To put it simply, if it's relatively inexpensive and they don't already have it, then they either decided it was junk or that they don't need it

My stock tv speakers are starting to piss me off with their inconsistency. Plus I'm in an apartment so I'm going to end up pissing someone off at some point.

Can I fix this with just a pair of external speakers, or would I need a separate receiver? Current setup is Playstation 4 hdmi to tv only. I don't want anything fancy or expensive, just to be able to enjoy semi-decent movie sound quality.

Product recommendations?

Your problem is that voice is on the center channel only on a lot of mixes. Go into your player's settings and force it to use stereo instead of auto or dolby or whatever. If it's sent to your tv as actual left and right channels, it should solve your problem

FM adapters are terrible. Almost every stock radio has a hidden input in the back intended for a cd changer, and you can get an adapter cable to get a true aux input for maybe :10bux:. You'll still need to open the dash or pay someone to do it, but a stock radio is a way smaller target for theft than even one of those $20 cheapo bluetooth-only din radios

Look at it this way, it's probably 3-4h to do a good job recreating a single page. Given the specialized materials and that it has to be done by hand, 200-300 per page sounds fair to me. Bulk discount doesn't apply since the only thing in bulk would be raw materials, but a lower rate in exchange for solid work would put that in the 15-30k range and take around 20 dedicated weeks to compete
