And I'll ask. Any recommendations for an air filter for a large room/studio? No pets etc just looking for dust filtration

I'm going overseas in a week and change to spend Christmas with my fiancee's family in Thailand. Any recommendations on a good wall outlet adapter & voltage converter? I was putzing around Target earlier looking at some and they all warn you "do not use this device with anything containing circuitry or LED/LCD screens", which on its face seems like really bad design since I have to imagine a lot of people are using these to charge stuff like smartphones, tablets/laptops, or handheld game consoles (unless I'm reading that wrong?). This probably won't be the last time I'll be over there either, so something that's built to last and/or easy to transport would be nice.

Just a cheap generic one works fine -

http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Univ...gn+wall+adapter

If you're using basic electronics you don't need an actual "converter" just an adapter. Almost all power anything will convert the electricity itself. Laptop plugs, USB phone chargers, etc. It should say "Input: AC100v-240v"

Seriously. I can't think of anything that doesn't have "Input: AC 100v-140v" on it. Maybe an actual game console power adapter or something really old?

I find it hard to believe that a new device like the 3DS won't do it. Check google? Does it use a generic micro Usb cable so you can just use any charger?

Are spring+pillowtop mattresses prone to this? Would I be able to avoid it if I got, say, a latex one?

There's sleep tracker devices that will wake you up when you're most "awake." Most are like watches. You set a time period, like 30 minutes, and it'll wake you up at your lightest REM phase or w/e

There's also an app that does it called sleep cycle which surprisingly works

I've also seen those pillows that slowly light up

I'm a 4 alarm kind of guy and I turn my alarm off in my sleep. and that one looks pretty good. Good reviews. Vibrating function seems like a nice feature. Quick question. If you use the vibrating thing and sound can you have them at different intervals? Like have the sound as a backup if the vibrating doesn't wake you?

Thanks for the post!

The sleep tracking poo poo doesn't really work well if you have someone else in the bed :/ maybe the watch ones do

Smart wool socks rule and are worth the price. They have dedicated hiking socks but I used the

If you don't have a few nice (I.e. $5) wooden spoons and a small and large cast iron pan , get those. I use them every single day. Also, a steamer insert for a 2qt pot is a good way to eat more green vegetables. I'd also recommend a cheap roasting pan and tray; you can cook a whole chicken for real cheap and it will last you a whole week (and be healthy).

Also, an electric kettle is super convenient if you have gas ranges, as boiling water on gas takes forever.

Cast iron pan is just a skillet eh? Anyone link me some good ones on amazon? Lots of options. Can someone give me a quick run down on the seasoning poo poo and maintaining it easily. I can also get a big skillet instead of a roasting pan, no? Do most people get a skillet set or just one good one and use it for everything?

I didn't think of wooden spoons. My mom has had the same ones for at least 20 years. Thanks of the recommendations!

A Pressure Cooker is actually amazingly useful. I was first introduced to pressure cookers by my wife who is of Indian origin for making curries quickly and easily while still getting nice soft meat. I've since started using it for stews and even pasta sauces when I'm including sausage / pork chops. The thing is amazing and is easy to use.

You don't need a fancy one, and can get them starting at about $50. My wife had ours when we met 10 years ago, and we're still using it today.

e: If you want a starter recipe, just PM me and I can give you a very easy and tasty one that I make a variation of at least twice a month.

Yeah these are always recommended and seem like they're a must. Not too big on soups right now but the idea of throwing a bunch of chopped up poo poo and other random stuff into a pot and then forgetting it sounds appealing.

Probably gonna get one of these, heh

I'd recommend you get an 8" Lodge cast iron and a 12" Lodge cast iron. They'll be about $15 and $25, respectively on Amazon. Seasoning is pretty easy; heat some bacon or other oily meat (or even just oil) in the pan a few times, and simply wipe clean with a paper towel once it cools down a bit, use a little bit of oil for everytime you cook until you can tell you won't need it anymore, and never wash the pan (just wipe clean when done cooking) and NEVER USE SOAP.

As for a roasting pan, you could use the skillet, but honestly, they are pretty cheap and you will be better off with a purpose driven roasting pan in the long run if you really are interested in cooking for yourself

Edit: also, make sure you have a few pot holders (and a trivet or two). Cast irons get hot as gently caress on the stove and in the oven.

Just what I was looking for, thanks. I got some sweet off-brand (better?) ove gloves :cmon: trivet looks handy though I'll probably get at least one. I also forgot to mention I have a gas stove which is probably better for a skillet I assume

So never wash the pan eh? Anytime I cook something greasy like bacon just pour the grease into a trap you just wipe clean? That's it? And I can cook literally anything on it eh? Eggs in particular. Sorry for the dumb questions I'm terrible and new to this poo poo

I use coconut cooking oil that'll do eh?

The PS vita is really awesome and intuitive. It's a lot better than the 3DS in a lot of ways but of course doesn't have all the good games. The vita is mostly animes and ports. But the few unique games it has are amazing. It has a lot of "real" games that feel like you're playing a console. Plus if you have a PS4 its a no-brainer.

Vita has much better graphics as well. The memory cards are quite expensive but you can find decent deal bundles or used off craigslist.

I'd look into what games each has to offer and go from there. I feel like vita is something where you're either going to play it 2 hours everyday or its going to just collect dust and lose its novelty really fast. DS is much better all around and a safer bet. All that being said I love my vita.

Vita has killzone which is an amazingly done FPS for a handheld. DS has smash brothers for fighting. Vita has a port of most popular fighting games and play station battle Allstars. Aside from smash bros vita wins in the fighting games
