This sounds great, but does give me flashbacks to the Donkey Kong Country Returns games. Not that this is at all a bad comparison given that apparent theme of relaxed tropical music.

edit: *reads artist background" Ah, well, guess that explains that.

I like this. It's definitely got some evocative jungle exploration motifs, and then drums and steelpan enter the mix for a little touch of 'and away we go.'

I have to admit that with the designs of YL being shown of, I was worried that with the more cutesy, kid-friendly look to things compared to their earlier work that some of the old Rare humor might be lost in translation somewhere.

This is clearly not the case. :getin:

I can't imagine them whipping out something like Trowzer the snake again. Unless maybe they designed a bigger, black one.

Our favourite game starring everyone's favourite green soldier.
Update!

It's finally over. We did it.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts Part 16: Terrarium of Terror Act 5 & Spiral Mountain [YouTube]/[Polsy]

Massive thanks to you guys for being so patient as the update schedule fell apart toward the end. This has been a long and exhausting journey but we couldn't have done it without you guys, thank you!

Shout outs of course to all our guests: JordanKai, kalonZombie, DJB, P.A. Master, and Thorn Brain

Also thanks to everyone who submitted fan-art (most of which is in the OP, check it out!) and schematics/vehicle suggestions!

although the game is over there may still be a couple supplementary videos in the coming week. The first of which is the credits, as beating the game does not actually give you a credits roll which is kind of messed up honestly

the second one is something I meant to release alongside this update but unfortunately my current work & personal schedule only just allows for me to make one video a week. I'll do my best to get those done and will post them as soon as I can!

Once again thanks to you guys for watching this mess unfold, It's been fun! oh and also you can expect our next LP fairly soon. It's gonna be good I promise.

Great LP guys. What a trial. See you in X years for Yooka-Laylee.

On the topic of progression/tension in BK discussed on the previous page: Although there's little in the way of story-scenes/dialogue to raise the stakes, I feel like the constant upward motion throughout the hubworld serves to give a feel of progression as the player's quest takes them deeper in Grunty's lair, and closer to her, since, like Super Mario 64's Bowser, you know your enemy is waiting at the top.

You have to admit, blasting the poo poo out of Grunty with homing rockets was, if nothing else, cathartic as all get-out.

You've almost made me want to boot up the game so I can do it again. Blast the poo poo out of Grunty with homing rockets, that is. Also, maybe build a Kinetikos.

Edit: Also, laughed my rear end off at the last 20 seconds of the video. I didn't think you'd actually do it.

I do have to say that my favorite thing about the six-event challenge is that you're expected to design a vehicle to do all six tasks without knowing what they are in advance.

Now that I'm thinking about it, there's no real point where Grunty actually actively fights back in the last mission, is there? I know the fortress and plane have weapons, but even then she's not exactly going out of her way to hit you.

Nothing in the entire game has been a threat. Sure, it might knock off a piece here or there and delay or frustrate you, but that's so easily remedied it's a joke.

B&K, by contrast, has threatening enemies, environments, and other things that tax your health over time.

Evil Mastermind posted:

To be fair, you do get that camera pan around the course and they're literally all challenges you'd have been doing the whole fricking game up to this point. Outside having not played the game for years before trying the final part or being a first-time game experience I can't really see too many people being tripped up by that. One thing that does annoy me is unlike the original BK not only is there no hint that there will be a quiz but there's no clues as to what you'll actually be quizzed on - people who never played a Banjo game will be caught totally off guard, and even those who have are going to run into things like the Jiggoseum questions that they never bothered to memorize like Dex because there was never any indication that sort of detail would ever be important later. Granted it was still pretty easy to make up for that but it's still not really good design.

Anyway, thank you Dex and Vilemoon + guests for showing off the game! Now you can do something fun for a change, looking forward to that.
