I bought a used PS3 from Gamestop a year ago. It's a CECHA01 model from 2006 - so it's hardware compatible with PS2 and PS1 games. They actually had two of this same model, so I bought both and flipped the other the same day for double the money - so I essentially got a free PS3 out of nowhere. HDMI connection to the tv. The downside is that it can't read my memory cards so I have to start over in the games (not a big deal to me)

There are memory card adapters that let the PS3 read PS1 and PS2 memory cards.

There's also the example of the papaya. GMO papayas saved the papaya industry in Hawaii. Without them, the plants would have been wiped out by ringspot disease.

You'd be surprised what a difference just being able to get, like, a free fountain soda or coffee while on the clock can make. It's not much, and you can't feed a family on free fountain sodas while at work, but just being able to grab a drink at a place that supplies drinks and not have to worry about getting another employee to ring you up and getting a receipt and poo poo can go a way in making a shift more tolerable. When you start charging employees for hot water, even if they brought a mug and tea from home, that's a real morale tanker.

I can also attest to this, though I work for the government. Our manager brought in kuerigs, snack foods, we have had like 10 potlucks and parties so far this year, and sometimes he just surprises us with food he cooked or bought himself (like just going "i'll get you guys some chickens" and bringing back two whole roast chickens). The team has a storage trunk that's just food and drink supplies. We joke around constantly, and the whole team loves working under him, even if our work itself is pretty monotonous.

Treating employees like people, and even like family in our case, works wonders.

that said, every single fortune I've ever read until a couple of nights ago has never had an ad on it; it's had a "fortune" on one side (and of course one always feels a little let down when it's a platitude or compliment rather than an actual prediction) and the other side is blank or has "lucky numbers" or whatever.
