Vertical Lime posted:Holiday Inn once used a transsexual as a metaphor for renovations: This one is actually pretty interesting because the woman in the ad was a transwoman. She also was an adult movie star! So even if the ad was a little mean spirited they did actually hire a transwoman who was famous for doing pornography to star in it.

GoGoGadgetChris posted:Isn't it just referring to their "party party up for whatever" ad campaign? Most date rapists don't use drugs, they use alcohol - either by doubling up on liquor in mixed drinks without telling them or trying to get them to drink too much. Drugs are far too expensive, hard to get and used more for getting high off it rather than trying to slip it into someone else's drink and going to jail over it.

**TRIGGERS: whisper, lip-smacking, soft touches, eating sounds** Why can't people just watch videos of the little japanese food kits being put together instead of this weird fetish poo poo.

Serperoth posted:I love this, because it's one of the most... Big Business (TM) ways to go about it. Obviously, not every site can go "Hey, we saw you're blocking the ads. Could you... Not? I know, they suck, but they help keep LParchive/dongs.org/swap-avi-archive.net running, so please?", but I'm sure that a lot of people are sympathetic to that kind of message (I know that the first thing I did when switching to uBlock was to whitelist LParchive, even though I don't visit all that often). One site had little images under their ads that said that, and I felt bad so I unblocked them. Within loading the page one more time I had 2 full screen pop ups, an autoplay unmuted video ad and a bunch of lovely flashing colour ones. Never trust advertising, ever.
