The 5X doesn't have Electronic Image Stabilization, 240 FPS slow motion video, or Smart Burst because of the processor, according to that AMA.

This means the Nexus 6 won't get slow-motion or Smart Burst.

What's amusing is that someone pointed out that the Moto X Pure Edition has no trouble with stabilization using the exact same processor.

This also means the 5X has no stabilization of any kind.

OIS is a serious loss, electronic stabilization is basically garbage.

Estimated battery life takes in to account the temperature of the battery. Under higher temperatures lithium chemistry batteries will drain faster so as the phone cools down the estimated battery life will increase slightly.

This isn't magic and it's not some sort of secret.

Whelp after reading the 5x reviews I'm pretty happy I chose the G4. You know what's really awesome about the G4? The REMOVABLE BATTERY and MICROSD CARD SLOT. I mean, those things are awesome, I don't know how anyone could go without them in this day and age. Of course, the phone is a little large and the leather backing is kind of slippery. I think I should get some GRIP TAPE.

When I switched to the Xperia, I had to re-evaluate keyboards because, for some reason, the screen on the Xperia was gorgeous but was too sensitive. A short swipe directly on or too close to the screen (as when repositioning your fingers) resulted in Minuum (and Fleksy, and Swype) registering an actual swipe. This was even after jacking up the the length you had to swipe to register as a swipe. After some internet sleuthing it appeared this was ultimately related to some additional hardware on/in the screen that allowed the screen to function when its capacitive ability was turned off (so you could still take pictures underwater or use the phone with gloves on).

And then there's the OnePlus One. It's notorious for having a lovely touchscreen, most likely related to the firmware. Several OTAs later and nothing's really improved - I still get frequent ghost-tapping when I scroll too slowly. And going back to keyboard apps, most swipe-related apps are out of the question so I've settled on SwiftKey. It's not my first choice but it has solid tap-touch functionality that can't be hosed up by a touchscreen that loves to freak out when you swipe on it. I've made do but I really miss Minuum.

Anyway I plan on getting a new phone to replace the OPO. I was waiting for the Priv reviews but they just came out last night and...well...now I'm preparing to pick up a 6P. I just want to know that the 6P will finally free me of quirky touchscreens that prevent me from using my favorite keyboard apps.

Sony phones have a high sensitivity touchscreen mode called Glove Mode, and with most Sony phones it's enabled by default. It's under Settings - Display

Seems like it could be game changing with on chip hybrid auto focus and built in 3axis electronic IS. If the electronic IS works anywhere near as well as optical, this will be a far cheaper and easier way for smartphone manufacturers to get stabilized picture taking into phones.

My G4 is awesome. It is awesomer because it has a removable battery, removable storage and grip tape, and I wouldn't trade it for either of the current Nexus devices.

Non-poo poo carrier locked phones exist and I happen to have one. It did not come with a single piece of carrier software installed. The way my contract is structured it makes much more sense to get a subsidized phone because the monthly savings realized from bringing my own phone would not have come anywhere close to equalling the upfront cost of purchasing that phone outright.

I am well aware that my situation is not universal but spouting hive mind bullshit at people isn't remotely helpful either.

Thankfully it's covered under warranty but for the next two weeks I'm back to using my Nexus 5. It's like living in the damned dark ages.

I love this phone and I really hate myself that I can't overlook this one. The volume rocker on my GFs two year old Moto X is supernice, the buttons on my $200 Nextbit Robin were clicky as hell, yet Google can't seem to QC their iPhone flagship killer (which it absolutely is IMO) so well that these things aren't loose or don't rattle.

Here's the thing: When I'm typing (I'm typing in portrait mode) my right index finger rests upon the volume button which then moves and makes a sound everytime it hits the phones body. Which it does constantly because my hands are moving. So I'm typing and hear *clickclickclick* which really doesn't translate into the premium user experience that Google is going for here, no?

I really can't stress enough how much I love anything else about the phone. Android has never been this smooth, the camera is like God handed me a new toy personally and it's just all around awesome. Except for this one button. Let's just hope third time's the charm, huh?

↓ Edit: Come on, man. Is this really what this thread has become? One bad word about a Google phone and you're a nutjob? Google Pixel volume buttons and you'll find more than a few people complaining about the same thing ↓

Just cover that fucker top to bottom in grip tape. Grip tape solves all problems pertaining to cell phones, it's a lesser adjunct to the better known rule that duct tape fixes everything.
