The thread so far is mostly about the ins and outs of Lollipop, so not much I can use so far. The Z3 link in the OP leads to a Page Not Found, which was partly why the LG grabbed my attention. I'll Google it though and see what I think.

This version of the thread is light on it but just got started this week. The last thread is rich with information on this, and yes it should be a Z3 or Z3c.

Is there like an Android portable music device that isn't my mobile phone?

I use the Google Play Music subscription to listen to music and manage playlists. I know that I could download my library but I'm constantly updating my playlists and don't want to have to manually sync them on my PC (and don't think that I could without hitting the 2 download limit). I'm looking for a device on which I can sync my Google Play playlists and then go running or train with it. I'd rather not go train with my HTC One.

Pick up a cheap phone but don't put a sim card in it? Perhaps a Moto G.

Battery life is ridiculous. I'm getting 2-3 days out of it, I routinely killed my Nexus 4 in one day with the same usage. magnetic charger is neat. Camera is fantastic, and works great underwater.
Only downside is that it's a bit smaller than the Nexus 4 and... I guess the phone speaker could be louder? Flashlight isn't as bright as some phones? You've really got to stretch to find downsides, if you like the size.

iPhone 6: Similar size to your N5. It's an iPhone, with all that entails, good and bad.

Honorable Mention: Moto G. Seriously. Picked this up as a 'why not' since it was $25 off contract if you get it while opening a new Cricket account (as an aside, I'm liking cricket far better than AT&T, if only for the improved customer service). It's not as good as a Z3 compact. The camera is awful and it's a little chunky, but that seems to improve the ergonomics a bit. I simply cannot understand how this is 3 to 4 times less expensive than an S5 or similar flagship device. Even the buttons feel nice. No bloatware. Works flawlessly with 60GB of music. Somehow gets better cell reception than either the Z3 Compact or the Galaxy S5. Speakers are quite loud at max volume.

Does anyone have a recommended replacement battery brand? I'm giving my (tech-savvy) dad my old Nexus 4 and the battery just isn't what it used to be. It's more than 2 years old at this point, so I figure a decent battery replacement is in order before handing it off.

$80 for a Moto G, may consider this for a throw-around/media phone. ($25 + 2x $35/mo - $10 autopay, not taking into consideration referral perks)

Any Z3C owners having issues with their flap covering the SD Card / USB? Out of nowhere mine is now springing open and the memory card ejecting when I pull it out of my pocket or gently drop it on a surface. I'm not being rough with it, regular movement/use and such. I had a feeling that this flap would be an issue at some point, just doesn't seem like something that would stay solid.

No problems with me here, though I have a magnetic charging cable and I think I've opened the memory card slot once.

Seems like the culprit is that the memory card is somehow ejecting and pushing the slot open.

I use the magnetic also except when I either need a faster charge or in a place where the cable detaches easily (which is nearly all the time except when sleeping or in the car)

Looking at getting the $25 Moto G that Cricket is offering now. Don't care that it's locked (cheap enough to unlock anyway) and fairly certain it's the LTE first gen variety. Not going to replace my Z3C with it, but think it'll be a great second/backup phone to have. Will mostly treat it like an iPod or pop the sim in it if I'm going somewhere I may not want to take my Sony. (hiking, biking, etc)

The incipio dualpro was the only case i could find for the Z3C with decent build quality. It covers everything except the usb /charging flap. It's also very very smooth, which is annoying as all hell. I got it yesterday, and am thinking of taking some low grit sandpaper to it to get some drat traction. It does look like it will protect from any angle, though, which is why I got it.

As far as the loose flap goes, if you're the original owner, you can send it back to Sony for a warranty repair. They'll want the receipt from when you bought it wrapped around the device, btw.

I actually bought a Z3C on Swappa with a loose usb flap on purpose, because the seller was dumb enough to describe it as 'secure' and was only charging $385. One trip to my local repair shop and a PayPal dispute later, and it was back in mint condition at no cost to me.

That covers up the magnetic port which sucks. That's the hard part about cases for this phone. I want to open those flaps as infrequent as possible. REALLY wish someone would have adapted the full size Z3 Qi case for the Z3c.

For a long while I went naked with Tempered Glass protectors on it (DO THIS). Recently I've been rocking one of those flip cover cases, but I ripped the flip cover off and just using the backing. It's a transparent skeleton with a little grip on the back and access to all ports including the magnetic port.

I posted about this issue a few weeks ago but thought it was an issue with the flaps not sealing on my Z3C. It turns out the memory card is randomly popping out and at this point I can't get it to stay in. I push it on and it pops out a half second after I feel it click in. Anyone experience similar issues? I see that there is some sort of recessed hole next to it that COULD be an eject thing but can't test it where I'm at.

So there's an aluminum bumper case out now for the Z3c that's $57.50 shipped. If you can get over the price, it looks like everything one could want in a case. Slim profile, adequate protection, and holes in all the right spots.

Once it arrives, I won't need my current Incipio Dualpro, so if any goons want it, shoot me a pm. I only ask for said goon to cover shipping cost. Fair warning, it has been sanded down on the back plastic and had a hole added for the magnetic charging port.

Just realized what I disliked about the notifications in lollipop while in a meeting. I would like "priority notifications" to work but have touch sounds disabled while in priority only mode. I have to put it on no sounds at all in order to achieve that but lose priority notifications. I like the audio feedback in other times so simply turning them off isn't desirable. I think Persistent fixes that issue.
