Imagine a game like Sid Meier's Pirates! Only instead of getting a ship the size of my loving oval office estranged dad's garage for his souped up ferraris and lamborghinis or whatever, you get a ship the size of Manhattan.

First level of Rogue Squadron 3 is an open world Tatooine, you can grab a couple new vehicles and race some guys and try out for the Imperial Academy in an AT-ST, you get medals for finding Jabba's Palace and the Sarlaac and the pod the droids landed in and poo poo. It is not as cool as it sounds but it's as close as you'll ever get.

 We'll never see Star Wars Bridge Commander... At least there's hope that with the new movies coming out we'll see people start giving a gently caress about Star Wars and maybe we'll see a game or two. Is the new Battlefront still a thing?

That sounds cool in theory op, but I've never experienced a game where you control a big battleship. Seems like minimal opportunities for fun when you're controlling big slow battleships.

Yea, it could be a cool game with some good story telling and interesting events, but it would be pretty difficult and pointless for a cash-grab franchise game.
