Hyouka was really slow and it kind of started to get to me in the last few episodes, but it's totally worth a watch for the great artwork and notably (even for KyoAni!) fantastic animation.

It's one of my favorite KyoAni movies, the show had a lot of bits I liked but they were buried amidst a terrible main plot. The movie was, essentially, just an hour and a half of the parts of Tamako Market I really liked, but even better.

Monogatari isn't constantly super bloody, it just has some scenes where it uses really extreme, stylized violence. The upside is that usually nobody gets too badly hurt in the end.

Ichiro Itano sounds like an interesting guy. ichiro itano was an animator on the original gundam, a key animator for macross and the animation director for the macross movie, and also a key animator on the cowboy bebop movie i'm pretty sure he's also had a reputation for being a crazy man
