Anyone here selling any used wedges? I bought a couple from DoctaFun a few years back, I still use the 52* to this day. I'd like to get a 54 because I have trouble with a 56 and 60, and I find myself trying to get cute with my chip shots with the higher lofted clubs.

Hell I'm curious to hear what anyone would be selling. It's February, it's cold as poo poo, and buying clubs I probably don't need cures my winter golf-less depression.

Not sure if anyone is watching the WGC Match Play but Jimenez and Keegan almost just got in an actual fight over Keegan taking relief from a fence. Keegan got in his face after Miguel started chirping at his caddy.

I'm playing here http://www.twisteddune.com/ Monday for the second time.

It's a really cool course, it was the dumping ground for all the land dug up for the Atlantic City casinos but what I really like is that it's in a bowl so you don't see anything other than golf course for the entire 18 holes which is kind of rare in New Jersey.

Great course, I try to play it once a year. Has a bad pace of play problem though. Last year I played 16 holes in 5.5 hours, and was on pace to shoot my best round ever. Went out in 43 but I was +2 through 7 on the back 9 and we got kicked off the course because it was dark.

Played for the first time since November today with my 9 year old. Felt good to get the initial soreness out of the way. First 2 balls I hit (this course doesn't have a range btw) hooked up and over a screen that protects a road. I think I came close to hitting a car, heard a horn beep. I love my lovely muni that's bordered on 3 sides by busy roads though.

My 9 year old son had his first private lesson today (he had 4 group lessons last summer with other kids). First thing he asked my son was to see his grip; standard interlocking grip that I showed him (like my dad showed me), guy liked it. Couple of swings, my son is hitting it 20 yards father, and more importantly straighter, than he was before which made his face light up with joy. Spent a half hour on simple swing techniques (poo poo I need to actually practice), then they went off to putt and played 2 holes.

He's only hitting it 30-40 yards tops, but he doesn't care. He's excited about learning the game and even more excited that it's not me teaching him and hey that's fine. He IS excited to go play 9 holes with me tomorrow. I'm so happy he's taking a liking to this frustrating, asinine, activity game like me.

I also found out when they came back that he was talking poo poo about me and how I always hit it into the woods. I guess I should quit and just be his caddy at this point.

Speaking of wedges, anyone here selling any of their old wedges? Bought a couple from DoctaFun a few years ago (that I still use) but my 52* is so pitted and worn it makes Rocky Dennis look normal.

What’s a good, lightweight, bag recommendation? I have a heavy Nike cart bag and I’m thinking of getting a new one that’s less bulky. Probably going with a stand bag.

Do they fit well on a push cart? I might get one of those too.

I went to Augusta in 2011, won tickets for the Wednesday practice round via the lottery. But I would probably pay $1K if I had that disposable income available for a tournament round. It would be worth it. As a poster above said, no cell phones is simply wonderful. Not only is it the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen, it’s so quiet too.

If you have never been, try for a practice round (Wednesday if you can for the Par 3). You can bring a camera and that alone is worth the price of admission. I got my photo taken in front of Butler Cabin, got pictures of the entire course, it was the best experience ever.

Oh, and the food and beer and poo poo is basically free. I think I spent around $20 for breakfast, lunch and a few beers during the day. I spent $400 in the merchandise tent though.

Yeah all of the Masters merchandise was very reasonably priced. There was some overly expensive poo poo but that was the designer apparel and stuff.

I totally forgot too that everything they sell has their logo on it. Every cup, bottle of water, pack of crackers etc. All of it is The Masters brand. I found a dozen packs of Masters peanuts and crackers the other day, why I saved that poo poo for 7 years I’ll never understand.

Any NJ people interested in a charity tournament on Monday, 9/17? Event is at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, NJ (https://www.eagleridgegolf.com/).

$600 per foursome, $150 each. Lots of raffle prizes and stuff including a 4 day / 3 night vacation package at Trump Doral in Miami. This trip will include hotel, unlimited golf for 2, including a round on the Blue Monster. Also have 2 tickets to the Sunday round of the PGA Championship in Bethpage in May.

I think you can try to win a car with a hole in 1 as well. Typical stuff. Includes a buffet lunch. Tee off 8am.

My friend runs this, it’s the 2nd year for this event. His sister in law has breast cancer so he started this last year. All money goes to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

If you are interested PM me.

OMG:

“He would chip shots and scoot his ball around on the tee box just to add strokes, and then he would just pipe a 2-iron down the middle of the fairway, hit it on the green and then just scoot his ball around again with his putter,” Fortis said. “He’d be right next to the hole and then I guess he’d think to himself that he didn’t have enough strokes and he’d hit his ball in the opposite direction of the hole.”

Drank 4 bottles of water over 9 holes, had 3 beers and a giant glass of ice water after with some sushi after (my local muni has a Japanese restaurant attached) and have peed once in the 4 hours since. I don’t think I’ve ever played in a heat index like this before, and I’m very used to the humid July NJ weather.

Regarding grips, I regripped all my clubs this year with Wynn Dry-Tac’s and I’m super happy with them. I’ve stopped using a glove too. And even playing in the swamp rear end conditions today I didn’t feel the need for a glove at all. Gloves in the past have given me blister issues because of the seams and how they fit my hands so I’m glad I’m able to play without one now.

I’ve been playing a twilight league since the spring with the same couple of guys. First day in April we were bullshitting waiting our turns and one guys says: Ready Golf? We all agreed yes. His next question was: Flag In or Out? We all agreed out.

That’s it, settled on day one and we play our 9 holes in about 1:40.

These things should be settled on the first tee and it will never be an issue.

Shot 41 in my league tonight. Best 9 for me ever. 6 bogeys, 2 pars and a birdie. No 3 putts. Only 15 total putts so I wasn’t doing myself any favors in my approaches but I scrambled like a motherfucker on a few holes and had putts for par somehow. Missed 3 fairly easy putts inside of 10 feet or I would have broken 40 for the first time.

I’m feeling confident for next week. I really focused on not over swinging, having a more even tempo on my backswing and it paid off huge a few times.

Oh and I watched a few videos on chipping and using the bounce that someone posted last week, and I practiced the swing in my back yard without hitting any balls, just bouncing the club like I saw in the videos. Man what a difference it made on the couple of chips I had green side.
