To be frank that partly sort of came from there being so little media with lesbian relationships and the little part that got some sort of mainstream viewing getting the "Look, they are just good, good friends, good friends that live with eachother and just happen to be very helpful with eachother on bed and somehow want to get a house and a family together, did you people never go outside and had a buddy you cuddled with together nude for warmth" treatment. Ain't saying that's the impetus of a lotta smut there, but still.

I'm kind of surprised of the omission of the boat chase on Ganymede Elegy from the list. It's one of those moments that there's other similar moment on a different show that's strange to see it done twice in 2 different contexts.

Something I like about PBG is that when I hear streamers bemoan about his output "sounding fake", it comes from people that do the "Hah! This video producer, who had one of the largest viewerships on youtube, stop doing videos? I guess Wendy needs yet another burger flipper" spiel.

I really can't make myself shed tears for Anno here given that he crept on Asuka's Voice actress to the point that she didn't want to have to do with the project. This is not a "He's imperfect therefore he can't criticize", but more that he was more upset about the treatment of a fictional girl than of a fellow co-worker.

Yeah, from what I gathered Anno and his peers (Physical violence towards con staff + mentions of not just Asuka's VA being the target of nonsense comes to mind here) seemed to be somewhat aggressive or otherwise creepy to lady voice actors / staff in general during the production. The interview with her being followed with 2chan recovering "old adult video footage" and popping on Sankaku Project as "She was no angel" made this a bit worse, and somewhat doesn't give me much faith for "The english version of said interview was badly translated" ordeal you were talking about.

I loved that show when I was ~10. :allears:

Komissar Rex is endearing comparing to the Portuguese spin off, called Inspector Max.

Kommissar Rex had the elaborate plot of "This was a bomb squad dog, his owner died, so he moved in with the detective". Inspector Max would balk at the idea and decided to give the inspector a large family and the dog is randomly found in the street. Bachelorhood, complexity of characters? No gently caress that, the dog just wants to be a cop. The inspector character, who 85% of the time has this expression, even when listening to a sexual assault description or a murder of any creature younger than World War II, engages crimes in a way that would make Hawaii Five-O (Modern version), look like loving Miss Marple or Murder She Wrote in terms of demanding intelligence from the audience. The dog is barely trained and does only his investment on already weakened or surrendering villains, with constant tales of several dogs behind the scenes attacking several cast members.

One of the episodes was set at a jail they cleared out to do scenes there, and there was a scene between a prisoner and our friend, Ersatz Gwynplaine Not-Mauser having a fist fight through the courtyard and a cell. The cell ends with a struggle on a bed, where either the former occupant or the set designer decided to lay down some cheesecake next to the bed that included, for some reason, a scene of a woman getting poo poo on her mouth. As much folk like to call Kommissar Rex shlock, at least it wasn't Inspector Max.

Also I recall a "Co-workers fakes rape" plot on one of the episodes as well.

The episode that involved the prison on Inspector Max for some reason had a picture that came on a news report on the same tv station as evidence of child pornography according to some Interpol agent's laptop, and it was blown into poster size on the daughter's room. From watching the scene, you could see the actor playing the grandpa rushingly putting himself in front of it and talking to the daughter across the room because he just noticed the hosed up set dressing. They cut the scene afterwards on the youtube version, along with the struggle that decided to have making GBS threads on mouth porn as background. To this day I don't know why they did that. (The original thing, not the removal part of course)
