Also, it's a picture at a con. Get over yourself.

I think what Bakaneko is getting at is that some people look at the disdain towards people like Sargon, and they start applying towards people who they feel are the same. The problem is that they get so overzealous about it that they target people who aren't totally deserving of it, or are so relentless that it begins to alienate people.

Moviebob is one example of someone who decries racists and bigots online, but at the same time, he's crossed into this really disturbing mindset that the people who voted for Trump or just blue-collar America in general are beyond redemption.

I def agree with bit on Moviebob, his mindset that will not only not help, it creates a disdain that only only continues the cycle.

Didn't Edgar Wright get fired/quit because Marvel wanted him to jam a million useless cameos into antman, a movie he had wanted to make for over a decade.

There was a lot of studio interference on Ant Man, according to Wright, which is odd, because they then let James Gunn have a free hand with GotG.

I'm really getting uncomfortable with this threads approval of doxxing. I'm sorry, I cannot approve of doxxing in any form. Rationalize it how you want to, but I won't stand for a double standard that says one side's doxxing is totally terrible, but the other side's doxxing is totally fine.

Even if the person has not been doxxed yet, the posts saying CNN should just name him, how is that not approving of this tactic?

This incident is not the first time this thread has been more than accepting to the prospect of doxxing.

Or 1, for that matter. I don't know if I'll ever understand what people see in those movies. Other than knock-off Tarantino, I guess.

You have to remember the time Boondock Saints was made. The 90's were a boom time for Mirimax and independent film-making. Directors like Tarentino and Linklater started small and were making great films, so everyone wanted to find the next big thing. Duffy got his script bought during that time. Defoe probably took the role because he saw something in it, and I do not care what anyone says, he brought more to that character than was on the page. Sometimes actors just want an excuse to go all out. Another explanation is that he was doing a favor for Harvey and Bob, hoping to get some consideration for a better role.

Him being in Boondock Saints 2 is funny, since he's there for like 2 minutes at most. He got a good deal, he's absent from almost all of that terrible movie.

Riffing can be bad if not worse. It's also impossible to be funny if you don't have jokes already written out or thought of before hand.

Improv riffing can be funny, but it is much harder to pull off.

In other words, it's using an arbitrary set of standards against which they ding the movie every time it violates said standards. None of the errors attack the central conceits of the films they criticize, they're surface-level nitpicks built around making the author appear deeply discerning rather than just thick.

The thing that annoys me regarding Cinemasins is that their ignorance of movies is sometimes put upon. They can question why something happened in one moment, and then down the road, they betray in another "joke" that they knew the reason why first thing happened. To me, that kind of "feigned ignorance for a joke" style of critique just shows you have nothing funny to contribute.

A Spielberg directed Jedi would either be amazing or a catastrophic miss.

I'd lean with the former, since Spielberg's and Lucas' previous collab at the time, Raiders of the Lost Ark, was a massive hit and a great movie. I also say this because Lucas would have trusted Steven and given him the guidelines, and Steven would take that and make a better movie than Jedi is now (Lucas could then focus on other things and not be on set as much). I bet if you dosed George with truth serum, he'd say he wishes he could go back and add "an Irwin Kershner Film" to the opening of the movie.

The article's wording kinda doesn't. It explains why papering over historically racist depictions of black people by simply brushing black characters under the rug (despite the historically black influences behind the work) is problematic. There's nothing about the article that condemns the game or says that you shouldn't play it.

The author argues that you can't borrow from the art style of a historical era without also acknowledging the troubling racial context of that era and art style.

On an unrelated note, Bobvids has a new video essay examining his thoughts on why Cinema Sins is Terrible.

It's a nice video showing the issues with Cinema Sins, but now that he's done this, I kinda want him to move on and vids about other things.

He also misses the point of the gag in the opening; the joke is that this big action scene is happening, but you follow Groot cause Groot is a child and does not care about that stuff. Also, from how he talks about the music and things makes me wonder if he saw the first Guardians of the Galaxy.

Bob is deluded.

He thinks he is part of the intellectual elite, which is laughable. He comments on pop culture for a living, that's like saying my job in a help desk is me being at the forefront of technology.

Also, he seems to love the idea of the Illuminati:

He is stupid, but do not get it twisted, he longs for a regime that will allow him in the ruling elite. I have no respect for him.

This whole YT thing is just another part in the grand scheme of YT to muscle out the smaller YT content creators. Very soon, unless you are getting hundreds of thousands of viewers each video, you ain't making money on YT.

It will not be long before YT will change like vegas in the end of Casino:

One of the reasons I will never post a video to Facebook. I'll gladly upload a video to an vid hosting site (Vimeo, in my case), and share the embed. But never, ever, ever direct to Facebook.

I'm shocked Facebook hasn't been sued out the rear end for doing this. I mean, FFS, I can't take a 5 second clip from a 10 year old Simpsons episode and post it to Youtube without seventy three bots making GBS threads themselves-- but Facebook can take content creator's video and pirate it wholesale.
