BUT!!! you could climb on monsters and throw them + your allies off cliffs which was arguably the best feature.

If you skip most of the quests or even if you use the shop a lot, the weird old fat gross shopkeep is your husbandu at the end which is pretty win imo

Dragon's Dogma was originally made because Capcom thought that America and Europe hated Monster Hunter. This was why we did not get the entirety of the 3rd generation games. They made Dragon's Dogma as a series that would be the western equivalent to MH. But now it turns out America did in fact like Monster Hunter, which sent Capcom's higher ups into a tizzy because IT DOES NOT COMPUTE!!! so now they made DD an MMO. Because America can't have two series at once.

Supposedly Capcom does not wish to cater to the west like Atlus and Square. There's a fuckton of old fogey types that still want the company to be primarily Japanese focused and also have a big presence in the arcades which was where Capcom made it's name. So it's guessed that anything that may counter the traditional stance they've always had would be denied(i.e. making the game release resources between the west and japan branches be 50/50)

Mind you after Lost Planet 3 getting intentionally crippled by development, they made an anime spin-off that they never brought to America despite Lost Planet being originally geared toward westerners.
