I'm attempting to decide if a Macbook Pro would be worth the money. It would be used for learning iOS programming, editing family videos mostly. I hear they are lighter than most laptops and as a collage student(online classes) it would be amazing not having to haul a 7 pound gaming laptop around to do stuff on when I don't want to speed time with family that I don't get along with. I'm not sure I would need any upgrades from the base model, but I'm not sure which base model would be the right one for me. I had considered the Macbook Air but am unsure if it would handle everything. Plus there would be times when it would be over two weeks till I could move stuff from the SSD to my networked drive. I haven't used a Mac since the third grade, so this is all new to me. I think back then they were called Apple II.

You're sort of in the wrong subforum. But, I'd go with the Retina Pro model. If you want something with a better GPU, get the 15".

Sorry about the sub forum mix up wasn't sure where to post it. Was leaning toward the 15 Retina Pro just wasn't sure on the other specs I should look at. I'm not wanting to spend over $2000 on this thing if it can be helped.

Could a MOD move this so it gets the proper attention? Or did I really mess up?
