Jonny 290 posted:I know. mrs is on it. curious. which one? in all seriousness though, if people need the combined inhaler thats good, but I think a lot of doctors try it too early. its a steroid plus a LABAs and LABAs arent particularly good for a person. i mean yeah breathing is more important still and so if u need it u need it but people should be taking the max dose of inhaled steroid and only adding as little LABA as necessary, or if they were only using they blue (albuterol) once or twice daily while on steroid it would be better than putting a LABA into your lungs all the time.

Silver Alicorn posted:I really don't get the whole practice of prescribing a daily dose drug for non-chronic symptoms except $$$ most people who have ashtma have it chronically the thing about asthma is that the inflammation itself damages the lungs. using albuterol or whatever when u have an attack opens up your airways but it does nothing to reduce the inflammation. over time the lungs will be more and more scar tissue with less flexibility and albuterol inhalers will be more and more necessary steroids actually reduce this inflammation, and hence slow/stop the disease progression. people who use their blue inhaler more than once or twice a week should be on an steroid EVERY SINGLE DAY to try to maintain lung functionality for as long as they possible can i have a dude who gets 6 x ventolins and he comes in usually less than 20 days since his last lot (i know this because compy always throws up warning if <20 days) HE needs to fuckin a) quit smoking and b) use steroids fuckin load, but he's never interested in his steroid repeats. moron. he'll have little lung function left in his old age did i metipon hes like 25?

generally best practice is to move down a list increasing dose and adding new agents, but people dont like this because its not the fastest route to reducing all symptoms (and not only pt driven sometimes drs are like this too). u should be trialling steroid only preventors before adding that LABA, because it woulkd be substantially better for you if steroids alone were sufficient.

people dont respect poo poo for free. our co-payment is $5 a prescription and it maxes at $100 in a year for a family, u cant really complain, thats cheaper than almost anything in your life by miles people do complain though. "what a rip off". jesus christ doctors are more expensive here though. at LEAST $40 a visit. is aust its the opp sitch, cheap Dr, more expensive rx. clearly ours is better because drugs own socialised healthcare might not be as fair but its far more efficient

it surprises me that u have to pay at all is any of it waived for the v poor

# ? Feb 7, 2015 06:15 |

even at $5 a piece people dont respect it. people collect poo poo because "its their right" and cost the tax payers the poo poo people bring back when their parents die. if you werent using your blue inhaler why did you pick up the last 30 (i took those home) why should it be free? $5 is the price of a coffee. poor people can claim it back from work and income if they qualify. i dont mean to be unsympathetic but everyone requires food to live and no one suggests that food be free for poor people, or rent or whatever.

well ok sure but what i mean is its inconsistent to think medicine should be free but food or rent shouldnt be and probably only a small amount of medicine i give is life saving. most is just giving you a small statistical advantage or even just treating "nuisance" problems
