While I really can't help but laugh at how DC is doing some sort of mini Crisis AGAIN, bringing Earth 2 heroes to Earth 1 was probably going to happen anyway since it was a given that their Earth was going to be destroyed.

It feels like DC saw what Hickman was doing with Avengers/New Avengers and all this work and plot to get to Secret Wars into a "new" streamlined 616, and said "Oh gently caress we need to do that poo poo too!" All the talk about the reveal of Convergence on the heels of Secret Wars and then AFTER revealing what it was going to do DC finds a way to asspull something similar. Not quite giving the pre Flashpoint universes again but not Gnu 52 either. It would be nice if this meant the legacy heroes taking the reins back again, but I know better. Wally will probably sacrifice himself to make this poo poo happen.

Also obligatory JLA delayed for three months after the second issue due to Hitch's art.

I agree. I don't think that anybody that likes or agrees with underage anime porn should post in BSS or even on SA. Anyway this is a thread about comics and not creepy posters.

They're also doing a good thing and copying the Marvel method of having proper creative retreats but going one forward and actually inviting women and not using dumb excuses to hire the same handful of old writers over and over again.

This begs the question would you rather have Perlmutter and his known and unknown rumors about the way he runs Marvel as your head or whoever the head at DC is running the show for your company?

You are clearly forgetting the epic story where Pa Kent has a heart attack, and in the afterlife meets his son being eaten by a demon. However Pa' hits the demon with a shovel, releasing it's hold on Clark for long enough for him to fight back.

Considering the whole thing is a dream that Jonathan is having, I took it as a non-literal story. But then again I remember comic fans who literally argue that the only reason why Superman was able to come back from the dead is because his father had to go into the afterlife and use his Astral-shovel.

I for one see nothing wrong with this logic. :colbert: Pa Kent also kind of sort of meets Lady Eternity, some devil demon guys, AND slays some Cthullu Kryptonian tentacled horrors. Pa Kent is the poo poo he only summoned a shovel because he knew it was gonna be that easy to bury his foes. :smug: Pa Kent is essentially Triple H is what I'm trying to say.

Did anything remotely good come out of Identity Crisis? A single thing?

Even the potentially good things like Ralph & Sue: Deadman Detectives didn't last.

Or pretty much never really happened. And no Identity Crisis was complete garbage with the only thing decent were sock puppet suspects that made the rounds here.

Just not some new Constantine clone please.

June will bring new costumes for Superman and Wonder Woman

Batbunny still looks stupid

Superman looks too similar to 00s Kon. They should've kept the aspect from Future´s End.

So.......the current costume tweak is being scrapped?? Hmm well now his costume isn't segments and he has pants so it's a win I guess. I do like how the shield is pretty much an update to the old Superman cartoon serials. Are the June solicits still saying he has a new power set or depowered or something? And yeah he looks like Connor when he was his moodiest especially if he just punched someone/something into paste.

Please explain to me what was going on, was all the Brainiac poo poo in Clark's head, was he dumped on a planet? Was he still in that giant EVA Braniac the entire time?

I'm getting this one. It looks great.

Apart from Jimmy's "that ROCKS it" line, it even reads fine.

e: It's the same artist from Dan Jurgen's Futures End Superman, which also looked incredible. Dunno why they're such bros, but I'll take it!

Is it just me but it's awesome to see him older married to Lois and not wearing segmented armor while on fire? :allears: I missed this version of Superman.

Also, if I remember right, that mini has Superman and Lois in Gotham. So dressing like a ninja for your vigilante-ing is pretty par for the course there. Plus it's very in-character for Clark to keep trying to help people even with no powers, and weirdly lets this build off the similar point made in the last issue of the main-line book.

Since DC really does have a hard on for cities named Gotham I'm not really surprised most of them in this clusterfuck are a Gotham of some kind really. Would have been nice to have an Atlantis, or Central City, or whatever city the Teen Titans kept getting killed in, a domed Legion of Doom swamp with hideout, Smallville, that land that exists in the center of the earth with that astronaut or something where he goes all Frank Frazzeta and has smokin hot barbarian babes while fighting off lizard men and magic. poo poo Bizzaro Gotham would be interesting as the happiest most sane place in known existence.

So yeah, I've read all Convergence titles and I can't help but be a bit disappointed in all this weird desert thunderdome stuff, but frankly it may just be a lot of my expectations being too high .

'Cuz, I mean, most of the books were totally fine and nothing actually jumps out as being bad per se (some of the art, perhaps), and there are even several enjoyable moments. The whole thing is...honestly, pretty standard comics. Normal. Ordinary. And maybe that's part of the problem because this really deserved to be more than just a less inept "Countdown: Arena." But what can you do.

The books that fare the best are probably (and, mostly unsurprisingly) the Question, Superman, and Nightwing/Oracle books. Turns out that having experienced writers tackle characters they've shown good rapport with will get you better books than just saddling a bunch of writers you've heard of with a bunch of characters they've never heard of. Who knew!

Found the problem right there. Also can the Flashpoint universe just go die in a hole somewhere? That's what we have the Earth 2 universe with all the angst and gnashing teeth for now apparently.. Also Issue 1 of Convergence somehow manages to be worse than issue 0.

Was Flashpoint Aquaman always meant to be some sort of creepy evil stalker guy? I thought his backstory was supposed to be that he's sad 'cuz he lost his Mera, but in Convergence: JLA he kidnaps the "main" Mera and gets real...aggressive...about it.

Everyone in Flashpoint is some twisted grimdark version of themselves because horrible poo poo happened when Barry went back and saved his mom from being murdered even though he knew the consequences of loving with time travel. Can I just put it out there that I somehow hope a version of Silver Age Superman is behind all of this just to be a super dick to all the realities Jimmys and Loises (Loisi?) in order to teach them some kind of lesson.

:smug: "Now now Jimmys I won't return reality to normal until you've learned to eat your spinach, and take out the trash!"

:smug: "And you Loises, let the men handle the front page while the women folk write up the Style and Fashion column. You know, write what you know? That way I don't have to be saving your rear end every. single. TIME!"

I want to like Convergence, but... I just don't dig on the setup. I didn't like Countdown:Arena, I'm not really liking this, either.

Countdown: Arena's only saving grace was how bonkers batshit it was. This is just.........bland. And I think because I've been following Earth 2 and its nonstop ride to Apokolips Hell this just feels like fatigue. There's no downtime for me or quiet moments in the book, save for those that happen off panel. Just this frantic GOGOGOGOGOGOGO. I also enjoy how E2 Grayson just got possibly paralyzed after pre-Flashpoint Alfred gave him some badass Bat-clothes.

Main point embrace the loving ridiculous, cut the maudlin poo poo, have a Superboy-Prime equivalent and start going balls out. Give me a GIANT PURPLE DEATH RAY. SOMETHING.

That right there is the candidate for a new DC thread title. So does this mean there's a new pre Flashpoint DCU out there, that maybe now had Zero Hour, Final Night, Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis with reality punches still intact, 52, Countdown, AND Final Crisis???? But more importantly, a Superman with Lois and baby with cousin Connor, and a Dick Bats and Damian Robin fighting crime?????

Also Nu New Earth 2 Batman somehow manages to out bedazzle the original Nightwing costume. :golfclap:
