Skullgirls is weird. Despite it's good tutorials, it's hard to penetrate because it's both an assist fighter and an airdasher. Starting out is painful, and then you find a lot of fun at the intermediate level. Then you Get Good, and the game either becomes a hellscape 5 way mixups you never want to see again, or you embrace it fully and have nobody at your level locally to play with. A few months ago some guy brought a skullgirls set up to an event, and then spent the whole time sitting alone in training mode. ---------------- |

Awesome! posted:skullgirls tutorial is the only fighting tutorial that has tried to teach me why i would want to do certain moves rather than just teaching the moves. it talking about high/low blocking transitions and why i would want to block high or low at a given time was interesting and not something i had really thought about while button mashing. Guilty Gear Xrd has really good tutorials too. There's like 100 of them in total, and they go from basic poo poo to universal fighting game stuff, before delving into poo poo like "here is X character's tools/setups, and here's how you can deal with them." Then the character specific combo challenges are showing you useful links and combo tools the whole way through, used inside increasingly impractical challenge stuff. ---------------- |
