I need help finding a game
I finished all of the interesting games I already had on steam, and I can only play civ so much
I need something with an enthralling story, not boring game play, and is plenty long enough so that I have something to do after work

play a game like x-com, xenonaut,s darkest dungeon, etc. and make up your own story as you go along
I've played nearly all the X-Com games, Alpha Centauri, the Age of Wonders series and Galactic Civilizations 2, but I'll def check the rest of those out

Stalker is an amazing game series. It's nothing like fallout. There's actual resource scarcity and the wasting anything comes back to bite you. Amazing games.
I hear the creators are putting out somethung else... did that ever get finished?
If they did, I don't see it on steam

You'll love it I think. Every bullet is a previous resource... The fights are brutal, one shot can kill you. Then the enviroment itself is trying to kill you. There's nothing like carefully trundling across the wasteland to suddenly be in the middle of a blowout (emission from the ruined reactor) that will kill all living things outside. A mad dash to cover... to find a new area, a dark tunnel to explore. Maybe this will solve your problems... a pristine, untouched area to loot.
But no. There's something out there in the dark. A reason this tunnel went ignored...
Well, I heard it was like the Metro series a bit as well, which I enjoyed

yeah holy poo poo it's a lot different than fallout
I was thrown in, not given a map, not really told specifically what to do and where, didn't know who would shoot me or not, couldn't see, had little ammo, ect ect
Yeah, fallout is pretty much on tracks compared to STALKER, seeing as you have to go to X place, else the level of enemies is too high for you to progress, forcing you down what is essentially a linear path in a free roam game
I just wandered in STALKER till I had a general idea of the area

You can play throuigh mario without ever stomping an enemy, thats why its the Free-est game of all time

this game where you can go anywhere is not open because if you go to some places with big monsters in them you might die
you also forget that those areas are canyons, and unless you can sneak past the enemies at level 5 with all, at max 30 in your sneak skill, which are placed in formations that the opening of those canyon/stoneworks, making it quite difficult to get past

CoP is a better put together game for sure but i mean, theyre all janky as hell and thats part of the charm

Its absolutely not true that you need to have memorized the map, I avoided pretty much every trap in dark souls 2 when i first played it due to playing cautiously
well dark souls 2 is a corridor, so that's not hard
|

I haven't played banished since like the first week it was on steam but it was pretty much a less good tropico
might have improved greatly since then! I really ought to find out
get the colonial charter mod and it's a wonderful game
