Do watch. It's by the director of Tommy, and he goes in some deliriously trippy directions with this movie.

Yeah, it's kind of rare and nice to see a science fiction show that's also a lighter family drama. It reminds me of the family-hour cornball sci-fi of my early adolescence like Seaquest and Earth 2, which were nice because they were a bridge for me into heavier science fiction but also conventional enough that my mom and dad would watch it with me.

Watch Falling Skies then. Same exact poo poo.

Netflix has devolved badly in the last 3-5 years. I know it's not their fault but the catalog is now like 85% B-class documentaries/documercials, horror sequels, and occasionally a good movie or TV show. It seems like they hardly add anything older than 30 years ago to the streaming catalog anymore.

Netflix is a goldmine for indie and foreign genre films. Literally the entire catalogue of past Fantastic Fest entries has been on instant at one point or another.

Something that I started thinking about unrelated to the movie itself though is I find myself experiencing stuff that inspired other stuff in the wrong order, because I played LA Noire before seeing this and LA Confidential is all over that fucken thing. I also played Tomb Raider before seeing The Descent and I saw The Descent before I saw Apocalypse Now. I guess that's normal though considering I'm only 27. I was like 9 years old when LA Confidential came out and it's just one of those things I never got around to watching.

So fellow Hola VPN users who are equally as unfamiliar with networking as I, be aware that when you use Hola, your bandwidth is being shared with other users:

https://torrentfreak.com/hola-vpn-sells-users-bandwidth-150528/

"This means that rather than having their IP addresses cloaked behind a private server, free Hola users are regularly exposing their IP addresses to the world but associated with other people’s traffic – no matter what that might contain."

Seeing as how I don't want to end up on any watchlists, I guess I'm done with free VPNs.

You'll watch it and sit there telling yourself "It's just warming up, it will get better any minute now". It never does.

Transformers Age of Extinction is worth watching to see just how low Michael Bay can sink. There is not a single thing that man won't shill for.

Not just painfully bad product placement. Clunky, terrible political propaganda. A Hong Kong security officer actually shouts, “We gotta call the central government for help.”

This is followed up a quick cut to Beijing, where the defense minister confidently states, "The Central Government will protect Hong Kong at all costs. We have fighter jets on the way.”

Just. Yuck.
