I quit TWD after getting tired of wondering where they were finding time to continually wax and wash their cars mid-zombie apocalypse.

Friendly reminder that VRV has Shudder's catalogue plus a ton of other stuff. It's a really good service.

Yes but Shudder has Joe Bob Briggs doing monster movie marathons.

If they can just get a show for Gilbert Gottfried and Rhonda Shear the channel will be complete.

I went to watch this as it’s been on my short list and it’s...not, on shudder? Is this outside of the US or something?

It's on Shudder, I watched it the other night.

Amazon is notoriously slow about getting new Shudder releases up. They also don't have access to the livestream. I definitely encourage people to subscribe directly.

Counterpoint, when I had an Amazon subscription it was a smooth stream. Using the shudder app/going to shudder.com I get constant buffering on my gigabit connection.

So after starting Jack Ryan with my wife and trying not to watch ahead like a twat as I stay up late during my fall break, I decided to find some other spy/military/crime show and stumbled upon this a show called Strike Back on Prime. It's one of those odd shows that had fairly regular seasons to start, but only has a total of 5 seasons across 8 years. At least according to IMDB episode ratings, it starts out strong but the last season looks like it takes a dive in quality .

Anyone else watched this? I'm only on the 3rd episode of the first American season (not the Andrew Lincoln season) seems good so far, but I'm wondering if it's worth sticking with or if there's a point I should bail.

It's Cinemax quality trash, which can be a very good thing. If you haven't already, watch Banshee. It's amazing.

Watching Hill House and I'm constantly reminded of why I love Mike Flanagan so much. He's not lazy. He doesn't go for cheap scares. I'm so used to expecting them from the formulaic dreck most of the studios are pumping out that his not including them is actually making it a tense watch.

I wish I could tell the women apart though. Undertaker/Child psych dress in the same muted colors, talk in the same monotone pace. I have to really pay attention sometimes to figure out who is who.

I watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) last night and was reminded why it's one of my favorite movies ever, does the 1978 Nimoy remake work well or is it best avoided?

The 78 version is one of the best horror movies ever made. It's amazing.

I loving love this movie so much. It was on tv so much when I was a kid. There's nothing else like it. Or is there? If there is, let me know.

Well Black Belt Jones ends in a 15 minute kung fu fight in a malfunctioning car wash, but as far as pure entertainment goes, The Last Dragon is tops. It helps that it's actually a good Kung Fu movie, and Taimat is a legit martial artist.

Yeah pretty much. I watched Kung Fury and was just bored with all the "wink wink lol the 80s" self congratulation going on.

Nightcrawler is worth the price of admission. I’m not really equipped with the right vocabulary to describe it but it’s one of the most bonkers and engrossing movies I’ve seen in years

It's a sports movie. He starts out as a ne'er do well screwup who finds a passion, gets a rival, meets the girl who is intrigued by the up and comer, has an actual "getting better" montage. That scene where he starts believing in himself and stages the body is what snapped it all into place for me. The music turns uplifting as he rises to the challenge and starts to succeed. It's fantastic.

i'm looking for a horror movie on netflix
- with a supernatural monster
- that isn't a zombie or a ghost or some other bullshit that could be accomplished by putting an extra in make-up
- recent-ish
- not complete trash
- leaning more towards serious than horror-comedy

Something like The Ritual, Borderlands / Final Prayer, Spring, or even the rubber-suit antics of something like The Monster would qualify, but I've seen all of those.

The Endless By the guys who made Spring.
