A good show that is on Netflix is Spartacus. It's part Rome, part Game of Thrones, with a bit of Deadwood's creative use of profanity.

The Act of Killing, though, is maybe the best documentary film I've seen on Netflix. Incredibly difficult to watch, in parts, but a very creative way to tell a very horrible tale.

The Act of Killing is just straight up the best documentary I've ever seen.

It's a Sci-Fi channel original movie with heart and a suitable budget. It was one of the best action movies of last year, though it's probably better if you go into it thinking of it as a remake of The Brain That Wouldn't Die.

Last night on Amazon I watched CineD favorite Punishment Park. It's a pseudo documentary from 1971 about an alternate history (though not that alternate) where radical protesters and draft dodgers are rounded up and given prison sentences by civilian tribunals but can defer their sentences to try their luck in a punishment park. It's mad dope yall.

Speaking of violent rear end old timey shows. What's better Spartacus or Rome? I was thinking about starting up one of the two soon.

They're both really good but for different reasons. Rome has a lot of really good acting and production design and is more grounded. Spartacus is a very stylized, extremely violent melodrama in which dudes sing about their cocks a lot and the level of nudity would make HBO execs blush. I prefer Spartacus myself but there's not a bad choice there.

The other porn documentary up on netflix is Kink, which takes the opposite attitude and shows the drudgery of making very specialized fetish porn. It's surprisingly feel-good, and seems to elide the question of what kind of life you'll have waiting for you if you spend your 20 operating remote-controlled dildos instead of working your way up some kind of corporate ladder, even though the company is basically a huge bland bureaucracy itself.

The people they feature are awesome, though. The lady directing the gang-bang video seems like she could be the/an inspiration for Linda Belcher on Bob's Burgers.

I really liked the bit with the guy directing the gay brutality scene and there's just a closeup of the director's face and you can here all these thuds and slaps and cries of pain in the background and he's just staring at what's happening and growing increasingly exasperated.

"What the gently caress are you stressing about! Look there below! Those are clouds!"

And gently caress you, I like 90's pop songs, I think I saw 4 Non Blondes first time, live while watching MTV Beach House. I know I saw them on Beavis and Butthead.. Not my fault you're a broken human being, I was singing along during that whole scene! ;)
