It seems to be buggy games in general that are bringing down gaming. I still feel like developers are scrambling to get stuff out on these new systems. I think 2015 should be pretty good though

Destiny was a paper-thin Skinner Box experiment made by marketing drones and for idiots, and the Halo collection was yet another rehash. Evil Within at least had content, but suffered from a horrible choice of engine and its director apparently being possessed by at least four other game designers during development.

Destiny I'll leave alone as there is so much talk about that on the internet so gently caress it but The evil within is not a good game neither in story nor execution. The first thing they did with the engine that ID and Bethesda gave the team was to take an engine that was made to do 60 frames per second no matter what by adjusting the resolution on the fly and they proceeded to make it run at 720p locked and gave it a variable framerate. They basically raped IDtech 5 into doing whatever the gently caress it is they did and the game is just loving broken on PC still. The story is dumb the first 3 chapters are bad insta fail stealth it's not a good or passable game.

The absolute truth there. I'm sure some people will buy this and be happy with it it just won't be us.

Edit: Also note Rathat not trying to be snippy just as someone who stays abreast of game news and info Evil Within pisses me off mainly from an engine standpoint they just beat and brutalized that thing to make it do what they wanted instead of I don't know make it run in 60 FPS like the engine was made for and would have looked and run better doing so.

Sometimes it's not the bomb that's retarded.

There was that shooter called Legendary, where you ran around a modern city, shot werewolves and sometimes QTEd them to death, and the final stages took place in London with the Big Ben ravaged by tentacles. Is this game related in any way, apart from being poo poo?

Going by some accounts it has some similar bugs where dead bodies float around, you walk right through some things, etc. :)

Should I buy this game or purchase 3, 20 dollars scratch-er tickets from the gas station? This is how I determine my game buying choices...I can spend 4 hours playing a 60 dollar game or I get a shot at 3 tries of maybe winning money. It seems like a fair gamble. If I scratch slow with my quarter it could take up an entire hour to scratch 3 tickets so look at that dollar per hour spent!

PlayMeThrough rushed through The Order: 1886. He didn’t skip cutscenes because they’re not skippable (largely because they weave in and out of gameplay moments) and he didn’t bother exploring or taking his time with the game.

That’s not really how this title is meant to be played. I’ve gunned my way through just about the entire thing already and it’s taken me well over five hours. My impressions of the game are locked behind embargo, but I will say this: The Order: 1886 is best played with a little patience.

Soak in the environments. Explore when you can.

They've already pulled his playthrough, I was planning to finish watching it this morning. :argh: Seems like it's going to be the trend again this year. Big release games with hilarious flaws. Evolve has it's DLC stuff, this, the new Resident Evil is going to have microtransactions and lock it's multiplayer until all it's episodes are released.

I feel like the Resident Evil stuff is a bit overblown as the whole game is less than $40 and apparently the multiplayer plays into the story so it actually makes sense to lock it as well as they are making the first episode free for everyone. Say what you will Capcom is at least in my opinion not ballsing it up prerelease wise at least.

The playthrough that youtube guy did actually had a lot of instances of him exploring, or trying to explore. It's not like he was rushing through stuff.

My favorite story about the Order is from Gamescom where Sony apparently set aside a massive space for it so people could play and it was mostly empty for the entirety of the event. Meanwhile Bloodborne's tiny little section had a 3 hour wait to play because the queue was so long.

Wow people really don't like this game! After spending 80 odd hours on xenoblade, I'm kinda looking forward to this. Will be fun to run through over a couple of days and see some pretty graphics.

I don't think I've ever seen a game so dissected before it's release before, there are people doing breakdowns of how long each chapter takes (split between gameplay and cutscenes)!

well that's to be expected for a game that's releasing with almost zero information about itself. it's kind of hilarious how companies like Netherrealm or Nintendo will do multiple runthroughs of how poo poo works before a release but other developer will just say gently caress it and give you 3 sparse video and embargo the reviews for good measure.

I thought it was quite fun with satisfying physics added to the gunplay that are ripped straight from Rockstars GTA games. I would say the downside is it does not have the same quirky charm as Remedy's games.
