SA2K posted:You can't build a tree house in California without years of red tape. Oakland in particular is insanely difficult When I was on the HOA at my place in La Jolla, it took ~6 months after acknowledgement from the city of San Diego to remove a downed tree that had clipped the powerlines to our neighborhood clubhouse. Our property managers refused to simply hire some random joe to take it down because the red tape surrounding public land is so layered that we could have faced almost a million dollars in fines. We literally couldn't use our facilities for the entire summer because San Diego is so slow to act on anything, even when it makes perfect sense. Basically, California is stupid. Getting anything built in San Diego county is going to have so much poo poo in front and hanging on to the paperwork that the Chargers wouldn't have a new stadium until 2020 probably. I could say a lot about the state, but none of it would be good and I don't want to go down that route. If it comes down to it, though, the Rams should be happy that they might be spared having to move to LA.

That being said, it's not all glitz and glamor as shown on tv. The state's drought is pretty horrible and has me doubting the longevity of me living here. The state is also flat broke so taxes are sky high. You have to put up with a lot of poo poo to get 75 degree weather every day, but in the end I think it's worth it.

I've learned to love California despite its flaws after living in Alabama, South Carolina, the Philippines and Oklahoma. Those third world poo poo holes really helped me appreciate the state and all the associated good and bad.

California would be much improved if we expanded pendleton to include everything between say orange county and la jolla. Live fire authorized and encouraged. I've always wanted to see what mortars would do to mcmansions.

I can't knock you because this kind of thing is like religion or politics (same thing), but good god do I feel sorry for you. Rams stadium plan is the most likely to happen. They've already got an entire incorporated city with a huge hardon for them and they will let them do what they want, it's near the airport and trains, they have excess parking over at the Colliseum, and there's already a huge billion dollar gentrification project happening regardless of whether the stadium happens. A shared stadium on a dump in Carson is just raising the stakes in the "no we swear we're gonna leave if you don't get us a stadium" game. They have to up the ante because that Rams deal is looking more and more likely and then they can't make empty threats to their governments. Also LOL at the the AEG "we have the worst stadium plan of the 5" terror report.

I think the Rams stadium is going to get built, the Carson thing will fall through. The Spanoses and Chargers aren't interested in being tenants in the Rams' stadium, Mark Davis doesn't give a poo poo. The Raiders and Rams will be in Inglewood, the Chargers will rot in Qualcomm.
