The L.A. Rams. Huh. How about that. So, three seasons in the Coliseum, followed by a move to the old Hollywood Park. Is there any transit heading that way? I know LA has been expanding its light rail. I'm skeptical about two teams though, especially if the second is at a significant financial disadvantage. LA doesn't seem to care enough, although the city is so huge that the money may make sense regardless. Any sense of how many fans in San Diego the Chargers would hold onto if they move north? I have to imagine it's a greater percentage than the Rams will retain in St Louis, even without the way the Rams blew the bridges behind them.

Gonna pump the brakes on the idea of Chargers to LA being a done deal. As of 10 minutes ago I'm not seeing indication of anything final, just a "framework". http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/13/chargers-no-decisions-made-no-serious-review-of-deal-begun/

Losing a team loving sucks. What's even worse is when it's all dragged out, and you hope and hope and then wonder why you did afterward. Then, of course, come the years of, "poo poo, are we going to get another one?" Suffice to say I'm not much of an NBA guy anymore.

Just listened to Clayton talk to Tirico on ESPN radio. Clayton said it was apparently rather surprising to the owners that the initial vote came out that way. Apparently part of the vote was swayed by a rare Paul Allen appearance, who won support for Kroenke by arguing that Inglewood was just the better proposal with more money behind it. Wonder if he also wanted no part in another Seahawks conference switch.

Creamsicle Tampa loving owned, I think most negative associations with that scheme come from that team being so godawful while playing in those unis. Totally agree with Philly and kelly green and LA and blue and yellow. I think the current Seahawks uniforms are supposed to be kinda ugly and loud, it was an attempt to jar loose their status as the most anonymous NFL team. God, those mid 2000s all blues were ugly. Wish they would throwback to the older uniforms sometime, it's a cool design that is nicely tied into the native art the helmet was based off of. Unfortunately, it wouldn't work with the NFL's one-helmet rule. e. actual news: did we know that Mark Davis owns a possible stadium site north of San Antonio? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25450564/report-raiders-have-secured-land-near-san-antonio-for-possible-move shirts and skins fucked around with this message at 14:08 on Jan 16, 2016 |

Aside from that Face Off situation I don't understand this move at all from the Raiders perspective. So they move from a city with a dilapidated stadium that doesn't want to finance a new one to...a city with a dilapidated stadium that doesn't want to finance a new one? I guess they wouldn't have to play on a baseball field anymore, but the tradeoff is losing their Oakland fanbase.

I've already done Seattle - Yellowstone - Minneapolis - Chicago - East coast (NY/DC) twice, and NY - Charlotte - Atlanta - NOLA - Austin - LA - SF - Seattle once. Gonna to DC - Seattle in 4 days this summer. Cross country road trips own bones. The absolute most important thing is to get off the interstate highways. They're efficient and fast, but they all look exactly the same. The old highways are where all the weird poo poo is.

Skwirl posted:I don't actually have a dog in the race because I don't live in Seattle anymore and don't really care that much about the NBA, but Kshama Sawant wasn't the only city council person who voted against the deal. And seriously, don't call longshoremen rich fat cats when defending a vanity project from a billionaire. Yeah, there were a lot of weird votes, like Gonzalez getting every weird concession she asked for and still voting no. Sawant was a no in solidarity with the ILWU, understandable from her perspective, but did so right after acknowledging how shady as hell Port management has been in opposing the deal. Bagshaw, who the hell knows, she was an arena supporter at first and now seems to be on a crusade against it. Anyway, the vote failed on a razor's margin, definitely an upset. Perhaps the new funds for Lander and more tangible expansion prospects will change some minds.

But, it turns out, when you make it a pain in the rear end to get to your stadium, people don't want to go! Crazy stuff.
