fyallm posted:I know the NHL has about 10 more teams than the MLS. Also there are more than twice as many games in an NHL season. That's a rather important factor. NFL teams wouldn't be getting 60,000 attendees if there were 4 home games in a week sometimes. Not saying that NHL is anywhere close to NFL but it's way more popular than MLS.

fyallm posted:I used 2016-2017 NHL Attedance which averaged out to 20.7 games and 2016 MLS which averaged to 17 games Uhhhhhhhh you're missing my point. There are 82 games in an NHL season. There are 32 games in an MLS season. 41 home games for NHL, 16 for MLS. MLS season is over, 2016-2017 NHL is only halfway done. Since there are significantly fewer MLS games, the sport can have a higher average attendance and still be less popular, because you have more people overall going to NHL games by a wide margin. You need far fewer fans to sell 21,000 seats 16 times versus 18,000 seats 41 times. Nail Rat fucked around with this message at 19:15 on Jan 12, 2017 |

fyallm posted:But since there aren't 82 MLS games, we technically don't know if the fans would fill it as many times. So I don't see how you can say it is less popular only because it has fewer games? Because if they could sell 42,000 seats to sell ~750k tickets over the course of the season like NHL teams do on average, they would build stadiums that held that many people. Teams in the UK play in front of crowds bigger than the NFL. Yeah there are season ticket holders and whatnot but what I'm saying is average attendance doesn't mean much when one team plays once a week and one team plays 3-4 times a week. Most people are not going to go to sporting events 3 times in a week even if they are big fans. Hell most will only go to a couple games a year regardless of the sport. Soccer's a very lovely sport. quote:Lol now they're backing off on that Logo and saying it's a "work in progress" and "not approved by the NFL" (because the "Internet tore out asses") Could they even use that logo without redoing their uniforms to not feature yellow so prominently? It'd be weird to have a blue and white logo that doesn't use yellow at all.

Would that effectively be Goldman Sachs giving a giant rear end loan to the Davis family? If so, I would imagine part of the repayment will be the stadium being Goldman Sachs Stadium/Field.

To be fair, it's kind of getting to the point you need to liquidate assets to go to an NFL game, so Goldman Sachs might be appropriate.

I kind of feel like they won't be able to sell any PSLs at all. They're going to have the hardest time selling tickets of maybe any team and there are multiple teams that don't do PSLs.

People vote for their perceived self-interest, and while only some a minority of people have kids in public schools at any given time, most people needs sports to distract them from the drudgery of their lives.
