customer support on a linux is to tell the customer to
a) go gently caress themesles
b) once you're tired of that read the manuals
c) and some newsgroups
d) but definately don't talk to us about it again

did you know hackers have found ways to put code into programs after they're already running?
i think you can't trust anything then, is the message to take home from this.

are you that mainframe hacker guy?

True story from the trenches of mainframe security. Shortly after a bank lost 4,000 euro's, and almost 800,000 euros, a Euro countries military, gov't, high-ranking it sec people, it sec managers at the bank, IBM and I were invited to a two day round table. I wasn't able to attend cause LOL work isn't sending me around the world for two days.

Anyway, in light of IBMs stupid process of hidding known vulnerabilties behind a super-duper secret website that you neeed executive signoff to even access and even having that, still not disclosing real vulnerabilties in its patches (known as PTFs) the bank + military + fed gov't got together to talk about the whether IBM mainframes can be trusted for critical computing. If not they'd be taken off the list of trusted platforms and all the applications used by banks, and other critical industries would have to move off the platform. LOL.

Since I wasn't able to attend and this was two years ago I assume they decided to not band the mainframe. But seriously probably made IBM have a shitfest.

This has been Real Talk Mainframe Security Edition

ibm never really figured out what notes is for, so they sell it for all these things and it is only good at one of them

the email system is pretty bad. In comparison, outlook is the most amazing thing.

i'm pretty sure the custom database software is made by ibm too, just like everything else. It uses java, and it's really slow.
The old system runs on a linux and it's just a step above command line. It's fast though.

We just had a separate shared calendar for each meeting room. Was that bad? Should we not have done that?
