Her voice is so gross.

Maybe not show-ruining, but it is disappointing.

I'm rereading it now. So so good.

I'm actually really impressed by the art this time. Lots more expression and variation compared to other shoujo I've read. Top top stuff.

I renewed my Crunchyroll subscription just for this (and Jojo's).

Takeo would be a villain in Jojo's. :negative:

Had a look at the first chapter of the manga again and it is almost shot for shot. The only difference, as someone said earlier, is that the folktale about the demons is at the start.

If this fidelity continues, the show will be cool and good.

Second on my list of wished-for Ore Monogatari spinoffs, after a Chihayafuru mashup, is the story of how Takeo's parents got together. Suave nightclub owner and pro female wrestler?

ninja e: Good title change.
Yeah, I've read and reread the manga and the transition from cute high school romance to a murder mystery always gets me.

Watching now. I feel like it was a missed opportunity not to have a really macho song for the OP. I guess it's still shoujo, though.

e: I didn't recognise any of the girls Takeo asks Suna about - what's the deal with the exercise/song ladies? Are they on public TV or something?

Pretty sure the butt wasn't in the manga.

Her voice is still annoying. I've got a low tolerance of uguuu fake kid voices in characters who are meant to be in high school though, so maybe she isn't so bad in the wider context of squeaky breathy anime girl toddlers.

Butt tree was good because it shows Takeo can appreciate male butts.

She is a protagonist in a shojo series that is like 95% fluffy bunnies, flowers, and sparkles, you're asking a bit much for her not to have a Standard Squeaky Shojo Voice

especially for someone so tiny, she's SO TINY

Yamato seems especially over the top, although the shoujo series I've watched before this have featured taller, more realistic girl leads (Chihaya, Sawako, the girls from Nodame Cantabile and Lovely Complex). I guess her voice works well in juxtaposition with Takeo's and that's the whole idea.

I'd like to hear a comedy dub with Takeo as soprano and Yamato as baritone.

It's probably because they kept repeating scenes. Takeo saving her from the groper on the train was shown about 5 times.

The action scenes are so lively that I don't really mind if they don't bother animating stuff like the mother walking away... They also got the cutaways of Takeo's reactions to Yamato down perfectly.

Just the best thing after a trying week.
