I've been playing The Sims Free Play to satisfy my urge for games where numbers get big. It isn't as over the top about wanting my money as Dungeon Keeper but I'm at the point where there's lots of hours between things to do. Anyone know any other "good" numbers get bigger building games?

This sounds intriguing, but the "roguelike" part concerns me. Is that just referring to the infinitely generated content? I like that, but don't like the permadeath and rip-your-hair-out difficulty that usually comes with the genre. Thoughts?

I've been fuckin' around with it. The game seems pretty okay so far. Kinda clunky and the virtual thumbstick is still "coming soon" but it's been pretty okay for a free game.

The Play Store curating doesn't even extend as far as having an option for 'only show me games in my language'. They've got a loooong way to go before it will be remotely useful. In the mean time, I pretty much wait for goons to mention games in this thread or occasionally hold my nose and dip in to reddit to see if anything is generating buzz.

At least they don't show things my device can't play. I have an old iPod touch 4 and looking for apps on the appstore is awful. Apple just shows everything whether I can play it or not.

Feeling THAT. I have an iTouch 4 as well, and if a new app doesn't require iOS 7 or a iPhone 5+ these days, it loads halfway and then crashes.

I'm debating upgrading to an iPod 6 when they inevitably come out but the only thing I use my iPod for is music and the Arkham Horror Toolkit since Fantasy Flight doesn't think Android exists.

So, I can't say anything for sure really, but I might have been beta testing a game based on a popular zombie comic book that has spawned a popular zombie television show that will be releasing in the next few weeks, and if I was, I'm sure it was a shitload of fun. I would probably highly recommend it once that thing comes out, if I could talk about it at all. It might be an episodic squad-based combat city building game or something like that. I don't know. I guess we'll all find out together.

And yeah, you read that totally hypothetical thing right- it would be based on the COMICS. Which is pretty cool. EDIT: Would be pretty cool. Would be.

Would it be like the comics where it's fun and interesting for a bit, then incredibly boring for a long time, and then finally getting "interesting" again by killing 80% of the cast and repeating the cycle?

Well, there's The Sims™ FreePlay from EA...

Alright hear me out on this one. The Sims Freeplay isn't 100% terrible. I've gotten pretty goddamned far in it without spending any real money at all. I spent $1.05 of google money on a LP (premium rare currency) roulette wheel because why not but I didn't need it and had one of the sticky fingered bastards at work not been loving with my phone wouldn't have been spent.

It's got an okay amount of customization at the start with more clothes and hair styles unlockable (right now at this moment in time there's a timed quest for sleepwear going on) and there's lots of things to build. It isn't great by any means but it's a good time waster and it's currently scratching the itch I have from not having any good idle/incremental games to play. There's numbers that get bigger and objective to do and at some point I will theoretically run out of content to do.

They remind you that with an epilogue that doesn't stray from what the RPG fluff says happened. Really puts a giant "gently caress you" touch on the end. At least in the regular non-directors cut version

Skeleton King - Sell 30+ bag loot items in one sitting
Black Dragon - In the gallery, click on the dragon portrait when you're running thru the halls
Gelatinous Cube - Use any food item while in combat with it
Wrath (the purple thing with a bow type... thing) - Land the killing blow with a fireball
