Each player pulls tiles to build a space ship out of various parts, then you all go through a series of random encounters to see who's spaceship holds up the best. I've only played through the campaign myself, and it's very polished and well made. I assume the multiplayer also plays great.

I've been enjoying Dicast: Rules of Chaos lately. It's a simple 1v1 board game with lots of variety and randomness. If RNG is the kind of thing that can ruin your day, stay away from this one. It's free to play, and you could totally pay to advance faster, but I haven't had to. I thought I would bounce of this months ago, but I just keep coming back, so I figured I would share it. You get a basic deck of dice cards (Random, Odd, Even, etc.) and add some special cards to it customize it. Earn gold and upgrade and unlock new heroes. I was originally worried about needing to ultra focus all my upgrades into one hero and base to stay relevant, but learned that they actually have a max level of 5. Once you hit that, you can spend your gold on others.

Go RV! posted:This is really neat, I'm enjoying it. Thanks for posting about it. The English is just sketchy enough to scratch that "badly Google translated text" itch, but usually comprehensible, and the game is kinda fun too. At the beginning, you should spend your gold on upgrading your heroes and bases. Gold is you biggest bottleneck for a while, so don't spend it on chests. Once you get a hero to level 5, you'll just be using hero and equipment tokens to upgrade them. No gold necessary. Hero tokens will be your bottleneck then. Once you get a base to level 5, you unlock crafting, which is a new passive income source, and you'll start earning gold faster. My level 5 gold mine earns me about 600 gold every five hours or so. Gems I usually spend on hero tokens in the timed shop that occasionally pops up. That might not start happening until you're a higher level, I'm not sure. There doesn't seem to be a huge value difference in what to spend gems on, so I've also splurged on some skins and emojis and I don't regret it. The game is also being actively developed. Since I started playing this summer, they've added three heroes and two bases and done some pretty big balance changes. The English is still a little wonky in some of the skill descriptions, but you eventually figure it out.

Go RV! posted:Any point to joining a guild in Dicast? Pub guilds are always inactive and terrible. I'd suggest a goon guild but I don't know that there's much of a population yet. It gets you an extra 100 gold per day when you check in, and at the end of the season, the higher ranked guilds get a bigger reward chest. There's absolutely no social interaction in the pubbie guild I joined. You can play monster jack together, but I've never seen that actually happen. There is however something in the "Coming soon" section of the guild page that says 4v4. Not sure what that is or when that's happening.

mirror123 posted:In Dicast does the gold I get from goldmine in a match add to my currency used for upgrades? Or is it just kept in the match for when I land on the shop? The gold you have at the end of a match is what you earn, win or lose. It caps out at 100 gold and it can be doubled if you break the other player's win streak.

Bruceski posted:Sometimes the monsters in Diecast have more target dice (not counting the archer's skill which is quite obvious). Slimes will have 4 or 5 and the trees have 2 or 3. Is there any logic to that? Yeah, when the other player does something incredible, you never really know if it was strategy or luck. Those really close games can be nail biting at the end though. I also have not figured out why monsters have different amounts of target dice. If you notice a pattern, let me know.

Go RV! posted:Yeah, I've still got 70-80% wins and I'm about to graduate out of gold rank, I don't think you'd get that on a real rng game. Once you get a hero to level 5, they get a big jump in HP and AP, plus they start with their 2nd skill. In that transition phase, before you're there, that can turn into some crushing defeats. Where I am in the ranks now, everybody is level 5 and it's pretty even again. Some people have a few more HP and AP than others is all. I'll join the guild as LordSwifticus once there are open slots again.

mirror123 posted:In dicast does it seem like monster jack is a huge waste of time? I get that I'll probably regret not doing it but it's like 1/4 chance I'll even get a reward out of it. If you can beat the dragon, that's worth like 900 gold. Nothing to sneeze at. I bought the emojis of the dice, so I can broadcast which cards I have during a monster jack. It's occasionally useful, if somebody picks up on what I'm doing and they have the right cards. I probably win about half of them. It's not as much fun as the regular game though, and you should do what's fun.

In Dicast, getting to a hero and base level 5 is a big gold cost, but after that, hero tokens are your main gate. Then you can spend your gold on other heroes and bases. I started playing in June and just today hit level 5 with all the heroes and bases except Locoi and Breezey Bastion, because those are the latest releases and I don't have enough tokens for them yet. Next I'll be spending my gold on premium chests. As a F2P player, equipment tokens have never been a bottleneck, so don't bother spending anything on those. Now I can freely choose which heroes and bases to play and I feel pretty evenly matched up into the diamond league. I don't have time to get past that, even though my rank keeps climbing if I keep playing. At the end of each season it drops everybody down to the previous league I think. Monster Jack has come and gone a few times now, slightly updated each time. They haven't had any other extra games yet, but I'd guess some sort of 4 vs 4 is coming next because there's a tab for that in the guild screen. There will probably be a break with no event for a little while. Getting a base to level 5 is also a big income boost, because you can passively "craft" gold, gems, and equipment tokens.

Bruceski posted:Thing is, I've had it go off when I step on a trap or lose to a monster hunt. This one took me a while to figure out too. When you draw a special card from your deck, it triggers the ability at the end of the turn. So if you draw a Shuffle card, then roll and land on a trap, it will still trigger your ability.

I found the crafting in Graveyard keeper to be way more fun than Stardew. There's a lot of "You need to research this machine, to build this part, to fix this bridge" etc. It has more structure built in, while Stardew is more free form. I also enjoyed not having any kind of time limit. You can advance whatever skill/plot you want at your own pace. I have no idea how the controls are on Android though. I've only played on PC.

Have people had a good experience with Slay the Spire on their phone? I was so excited about it, but just find the UI makes it frustrating to play. I find it difficult to look at the cards in my hand without accidentally playing them. Once I take a look at one, it's really hard to put it back to look at a different one. What am I doing wrong?

New Dicast patch is out.quote:3.8.0 PATCH NOTE The new Random Play Mode is great. It picks a random hero and base for you, but you get +50% RP for a win and -75% RP for a loss. Since I've basically been picking random heroes anyway, this is perfect for me. Since there are only a few of us still playing in the guild, it's probably time to disband it. It's not like there's any social interaction in the game anyway. We don't have enough people to complete the guild missions, so it probably makes sense for everybody to just join the biggest guild you can.
