There's even an ear pull event!

You tie your ear to another man's ear with a loop of string, and pull your heads away to see who cries "Uncle" first.

The other event Vulcan Raven mentions, the stick-pull, is a thing too. Two guys sit on the ground facing one another. Each hold the end of a smooth stick, and try and pull it out of the other guy's grip.

The stick is even lubed, for easier inserto make it more difficult to hold on to.

I thought "Walkin' on the Sun" was a cover for some reason. Just learned that it's not.

Smash Mouth's lead singer is really bad at enunciating though, such that I always thought the line "field heat sneakin' up on me" in "Come on, Come on" was "Bill Gates sneakin' up on me."

I will never stop listening to Smash Mouth.

Stuff I can't believe I just figured out: Smash Mouth made more than one song.

Sort of?

Fall comes from the PIE root *pol, with cognates in most other Indo-European languages, including fallere (Latin), which means to trip up, to cause someone to fall. This became fallire in Vulgate Latin (to disappoint), which through Old French became fail.

to be fair, it is interesting that Bulba Fett is only a few years older than Luke yet has established himself as a galactic bounty hunter rather than a moisture farmer.

but then by the time Luke hits Fett's age in Empire he's Jedi Jesus so who knows who got the better end of that deal.

oh, right, the one that didn't get eaten by a gigantic sandy version of vagina dentata.

Fett did start out with the ship, the equipment, and likely some level of combat training. Luke lived on a backwater world with a bunch of farmers. He wanted to run off and join the Academy (possibly stormtrooper, possibly pilot), but his family didn't want him to expose himself and his Force sensitivity to the Empire.

They were the same age, but lived in some very different circumstances.
