Apparently they just fixed the bug in Crimelords where you'd lose the adventure if you went into combat before Braugh while rescuing him. I got a laugh out of that.

Evil Mastermind posted:Back then. I just want to get an idea of how obnoxious that list was when you were doing the steps inside the steps. Almost everything on the list was all in all, trivial, except for the Silver Dungeon Attunement and World Bosses. First, the dungeons were just plain hard, and unforgiving. Even if you were a great group, the first two dungeons didn't leave any spare time to go take a dump. STL relied on terrain hacks more or less to knock off an extra couple of minutes. Next were the bugs. Stormtalon used to just go off his rocker the second time you pulled him and not obey his script. There was a required miniboss that could just sink into the ground and you'd fail in the last 2/3's of an hour long. Two of the dungeons had random objective lists that would essentially mean you couldn't complete them. The world bosses had 6-9 hour spawn windows. Also like 3-4 of them for the longest time would bug out and be unkillable.

Not only did you require over a weeks worth of gems to unlock atunement, you then needed to grind out several hundred more for extra AMP points(320 gems) and skill points(400 gems). You could buy something like ten AMP and seven skill points. One of the top raiding guilds abused the poo poo out of a bug where the vendor was selling these and not taking the gems within the first few weeks so they could max it all out. It was that or the cap wasn't working properly, I honestly forgot which but would not be surprised if it were both. They're just cosmetic items for sale now, I think they moved all the character stuff to renown.

Minsky posted:I think towards the end of the guild's life, the few people left organized a big expedition to track down the few world bosses that weren't bugged (including going into Exile territory to kill theirs), and to contest that PVP Contamination world event that had rotating bosses (because at that point the server was horribly outnumbered to Exile which made doing it any other way impossible), so that people could finish their attunements. There were a handful of us that made it to the second floor of GA. Then that guild dissolved too and everyone quit. I think Destoration soldiered on with Zoness' group until they folded too. I do miss the nights of raid leaders trying to pronounce CubeTwoK's name. Cube Toke, Cube Thwok, Quebbit tee Wok.

Republicanus posted:If they sold it to someone who likes to make good fun games - like Blizzard - with the art assets and all, they might be able to pull a nice F2P game out of the rubble. There are actually small parts that are fun. Keeping the raid dipshittery could be fine if they broke down and did what literally everyone else does and have multiple difficulties. That and re-tuning it so it's not horrifyingly exhausting. Some parts of GA were fun, but that all got lost in the hours and hours of grinding though trash and over-tuned bosses where 1 small mistake by 1 person costs you the kill. I wouldn't really expect any of this in the near term though. They've got what, like 3 dudes left doing the raiding part?
