Unreliable
Apr 19, 2015
For like the last six months I've been learning jazz piano, which has been dope. I can play through four or so pieces and solo in them (not coherently, though!). But now when I get into progressions that are like Gmaj7 to F#7b5, I don't really know what I'm doing with improvising. How do you look at the keys for soloing? When you think of changing scales, what goes through your mind? Is it like: oh blues, so that 7th I played is now lowered a half step and my 3. Or is it something totally different? When you do switch, do you see the chord you're playing in your left hand spelt out in front of your right hand?
