If we can save some dollars with minimal performance drop that would be the bees knees.

You could swap that i5 out for a pentium g3258. It's not got the fancy hyper threading or turbo but its 50 dollars and has unlocked multipliers. Then once the 5th gen stuff comes out and high end 1150 chips like the i7s are cheaper you can toss one of those in with some more RAM or whatever.
