So I'm out of town at the moment and don't really know my PC's specs off the top of my head, but I was able to run Witcher 2 on it with no issues. Even with the downgrade is Witcher 3 going to be so much more intensive than 2 that my machine bursts into flames? I'd rather not have to go out and get a new console just for this, but it's one of the few games that would motivate me. (Sorry to interrupt the arguing)

Utnayan posted:What is your spec? Given the new evidence I would hardly think that recommended specs would be a GTX 770 and an i5 unless you had 9 pop ups of live porn going at the same time. I'll be honest, my brother kind of set it up for me when I wanted to get more into modding some of my games so I don't know a whole lot about specifics. Like I said though it ran Witcher 2 and pretty much every other recent game just fine on high settings so I was wondering if this is such a drastic change that it can't handle it. But I realize that's kind of vague so if that's impossible to really say, it's fine. I'm not going to be in line on release day or anything. I'm mostly hoping I can run it so I can wait on the consoles a little longer and not have to drop $450-something or other on this.

But on the other hand Iorveth's path had the funniest sex opportunities so what can you do?

Lord Lambeth posted:I dunno I enjoyed Ioverth's path a lot more. Roche's path felt a heck of a lot more cynical and I found myself hating the people I had to work with a lot of the time. Whereas Ioverth side had Saskia, who's just so darn idealistic. Also Ioverth's path has the Sackful of Fluff quest. Both paths have the Sackful of Fluff quest, it's just with Roche you can only do it at a particular point in the storyline when you cross the mist. And with Roche you have that weird spot by the Visionary's hut where harpies just infinitely respawn every few minutes for easy feather gathering.

Edit: And the PC version autosaved so much it eventually wouldn't function until I deleted most of the saves (manually since it would crash in the game menus).

I'm going on console, too, will there be a way to manipulate the previous story or save files? Like the Keep online in dragon age inquisition? If it helps at all, I went into Witcher 2 completely blind world/storyline-wise and it was no problem at all. I would imagine 3 won't be too much worse, especially considering this game is introducing plenty of people and places that weren't really in the previous games much (other than mentions in dialogue and stuff). I really really hope they do the other playable characters thing better this time though. RatHat posted:I hope armor doesn't apply to traps in the Witcher 3. In addition to the bridge scene there's also the one where just busts through the wall of the elven baths like the Kool-Aid Man. Psiharis posted:Comparatively, but he never gelled for me personally. I played the game an embarrassing number of times (multiple paths on PC, at least 4-5 runs on 360) and still dislike the sneering gently caress. He has a right to be that way, no question, but I still don't enjoy his company. Plus I really didn't like the later lovesick puppy aspects and found Saskia completely bland. She has a grand vision and that's all we get until the Big Reveal - admirable, yes. Likable? Mehhh. Maybe it's supposed to be endearing that an ancient badass like Iorveth can still be naive and trusting to fall for some rando who makes pretty speeches, but it made me embarrassed for him more than anything. I think a big part of it is that Roche is there with you pretty much every step of the way like the game is some kind of buddy movie. Iorveth tends to sort of drift in and out, just showing up occasionally to help with the big stuff (looking like he smelled something really bad the whole time). And half the time when he talks to you it's in a super condescending tone, which is understandable I guess but it's not endearing. Saskia just comes off like a naive idiot to me.

Lycus posted:That scene is stupid either way, and should've been cut. But it's so much fun playing as other characters (with only like 2 lovely basic sword attacks). As for plough, like the other person mentioned it's not exactly a euphemism limited to the Witcher. I'd imagine they use it both to give the dialogue some colloquial flavor and so every single character/NPC isn't saying "gently caress" every 5 seconds. They say it constantly and just imagining every instance of plough being replaced with gently caress would sound kind ridiculous and over the top even by Witcher standards. Also takes some of the impact away when it's used as a curse.

Drifter posted:gently caress, I just realized back when I picked Iorveth's side I didn't kill Loredo and opted instead to rescue to people trapped in the burning building. gently caress. That won't end well for flotsam. I don't think it will matter much. The big thing with Loredo was that he sold Flotsam to Kaedwin. But with the current political climate I doubt that deal has stuck. Witcher 2 also didn't make it a secret that pretty much everyone in Flotsam hates him and is either working against him or hoping for the right moment to kick him out. Iorveth didn't seem to think he was going to be a problem anymore. Besides, if you don't save the elf women you can't be big sleaze and sleep with one of them later.

As I understand it, choosing to simulate a Witcher 2 save means you'll eventually get a chance to answer questions that will simulate making choices in the previous game. Since on PS4 and Xbone there's no way for you to import an actual save file like you can on PC. If you don't do that I guess it will just default to whatever CDPR decided the canon outcomes of everything in Witcher 2 were. Here's a video about the save import simulation if you're not worried about spoilers and all that.
