Although we don't usually have hours go by without either radio or MDT traffic so the dispatchers know we're still moving around. Pretty much this. Status checks only if marked out. However all our cruisers have a "Automatic Vehicle Locator" (read: GPS) so dispatch always knows the cruiser's location when signed on.

According to the email I saw from the local FF union, he's not a member and they're not supporting him. Edit: The thing that's driving me crazy is that the powers that be of both the FF and PD are making a huge go of "OMG, SOLIDARITY!! DONT LET THIS ONE GUY DRIVE US APART!!!!" PD and FD has always had a great relationship and the troops on both sides both know it's just 1 nutjob. The brass is acting like this is going to plunge the county into a public safety civil war. Those with a nylon duty belt, what inner belt are you using? I've been wearing a Tactical Tailor inner belt and the velcro is starting to lose it's holding ability after 2 years of use. I'm thinking about getting a loop back belt instead of a straight velcro belt.
