I've seen it done. The parents get it in their head their small child is gay. They spend the next 10 years drilling it into the kid's head that being gay is an abomination or whatever because they think being attracted to the same sex is a lifestyle choice. They get the kid heavily involved in church thinking it will save them from hell or w/e. They grow up, wind up actually being gay. Now they are a very religious person that holds a sincere belief in their heart they are going to hell. This is still common in the south.

It's become something of a climate change denier movement in conservative circles to deny that gender identity and sexual orientation either have a genetic basis, or are the results of something that happen in the womb. It challenges their faith based on a literal interpretation of the bible that God would know someone in the womb and at the same time create an abomination.

You should bring it up with your therapist as it would become an issue if you ever commit to someone long term. There might be some kind of therapy that will help you be able to have an enjoyable relationship with a woman over a long period of time.

Sting even wrote a song about this, and he was an english teacher.

When I have romantic or sexual dreams, it is usually with a roughly 16 year old girl who usually looks the same in all my dreams. I actually rarely have it be sexual now that I think about it. Just someone I feel a extremely strong connection with who is very close, very beautiful and we are almost reliant on each other as if being the same person in two bodies. I look forward to those dreams as some of the best things I can experience in this life. (I have been majorly depressed for most of my life and had anxiety issues from as early as I can remember as a kid.)

I had gradually through my life lost hope that I would ever not be alone. I eventually started drinking and doing drugs, occasionally tried to kill myself, and have only really tried to get sober this year (a year in August despite slip-ups along the way). I don't want to be depressed, and I am working on it.

But I have no idea what to do with my fixation on younger girls. I know they are children - the older I get the easier it is to see. But I still get hyper aroused thinking of them, seeing girls in short shorts or tight clothing. I have a 3 year old daughter - I love her so much and she is part of the reason I am trying to get my mental poo poo in order. I don't want to always be afraid that I will be looking at her friends the same way I see girls right now and in the past. I have trouble understanding why everyone doesn't have this problem too. These are children who don't look like children anymore. I don't know what is wrong with me.

Sorry, I forgot to mention (since I am sure it will be asked), I do go to therapy now but have never brought this up of course. I am deeply afraid of ever being in trouble legally and even if that were not an issue, I just don't know how I could ever bring anything like this up.

I'm really not trying to evoke sympathy - I'm having problems with my eyesight. Its starting to get better, but apparently its going to come and go the rest of my life.
