"Now is the time for mourning and healing, but let's be clear: At some point as a country, we have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries," the president said. "It is in our power to do something about it… I say this knowing the politics in this town foreclose a lot of those opportunities."

I am 90% sure I copied that quote from the NBC page. I certainly didn't redact it myself. This makes my sick burn a lot less impressive.

Edit: it looks like there have been a couple versions of that article. Here's a third variant.

>"Now is the time for mourning and healing, but let's be clear: At some point, we as a country, will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn't happen in other places with this kind of frequency," the president said as he stood next to Vice President Joe Biden. "It is in our power to do something about it… I say that recognizing the politics in this town foreclose a lot of those avenues right now."

Now that he's out of office, I admit Bush is a pretty cool guy. I just never thought he was a good fit for the presidency, especially given he advisors he surrounded himself with. I mean, its become somewhat of a meme, but Cheney was almost cartoonishly evil.

You can still hear the mindset today - when one or two convenience stores being destroyed morphs into 'cities in flames' :siren: 'no go zones' to reactionary whites.

To make America great again you need to reinvigorate the cities. Hundreds of thousands of buildings can be refurbished with solar power systems. Disused areas can be cleaned up and used as green space. Through legal mandates modern Information Systems can create highly efficient markets for housing, work, and transit.

Personally, I'd rather live in a place where there isn't a recent history of rioting, even if it was only "one or two convenience stores" that they burned to the ground. But that's just me.
