The final trial for the Heavensward story is amazing.

I'll share the only advice I was given when I queued in to it: remember to look around the arena every once in a while as you fight, just to observe the scenery changes.

The thing about triple is the triple casts afterwards can, on an undergeared tank, outright kill them if the healers aren't pre-casting heals to land in between casts/don't put a shield up/etc.

Of course, even one tank going down shouldn't be an emergency in that fight (if you're in DF, you should have a second one available). If your healers aren't bright enough to keep the MT alive through it, and if that second tank isn't smart enough to provoke the boss after the main tank dies you're in for a world of hurt.

Yes, Quake III does a lot of AoE damage, and it is cast often. Healers need to be ready for it.

Finally, the tear: a lot of pubs don't know how your buffs are extended when you enter it, or how to take advantage of it. This puts them in a position where tanks aren't able to grab every meteor (no sprint or tank buffs pre-entry), or healers don't pre-cast a strong healing buff (Medica II/Divine Seal/etc) to help get through any meteors that are missed. Often that instance fails in DF simply because of one or the other, not the lack of DPS on the tear (which is more often than not caused by missed meteors killing DPS).

It's pretty much a big tank/healer check to see if they're paying attention to mechanics. If they had to nerf steps as hard as they did, I'm surprised they didn't nerf that fight too.

Apparently this shows it doesn't, as my fresh level 55 fishing retainer, which just barely met the requirements for the level 55 venture, brought me back this this morning:

You can still get back onto the balcony for the new house glamour by using the CT2 sword: just angle your jump so you jump towards the top tip of the sword around the piece of wood holding the sign up and you'll get up high enough to jump up. Credit to Doctor Quinn for getting finding out how to get that consistently.

No you won't this is a dumbass goon overreaction

It's an overreaction to expect it to happen with most groups, but if you're a healer using Cleric Stance regularly you will eventually run into players who get salty when they see you using it. Whether it's tanks who don't pop cooldowns and stand in AoEs, or DPS that tunnel vision and don't deal with mechanics (or my personal favorite, a DPS who is parsing who gets livid when they see you doing more damage than them during trash pulls), if that person sees you in Cleric Stance they'll be quick to put blame on you instead of admitting they messed up. Yes, in the worst cases it may lead to you being vote dismissed if you ended up queuing into a group full of such people.

Hell, I've been vote dismissed from groups for using Cleric Stance even when nobody has gotten killed during a run.

For what it's worth, MNK is still MNK, but better. They even extended the duration Greased Lightning lasts by a few seconds, so it's harder to lose your stacks. Bonus: even if you are in a situation where you're about to lose them, whether due to a mistake or a phase change, you can dump your stacks with a new skill, Tornado Kick, to help make up for the DPS loss.

I was asking about current chocobo setups since I skipped the chocobo racing patch and Dudude said that Increased Sta + Super Sprint is a good way to avoid the debuffs in the late game.

I've been thinking - What would be the optimal stats to max for IS + SS? Since you can max 3 stats, wouldn't the optimal distribution be Stamina, Endurance (since it's believed to increase your lathered threshold and that the further you are from the lathered threshold the more stamina you spend) and Cunning?

Just popping in here to post that this advice helped me clear the last two challenge races, saved me from chocobo racing hell and got me a spiffy new barding:

I wasn't able to use increased stamina for the build, as my hereditary skill was choco cure II, and I didn't have max stars in stamina, but going all in on endurance, stamina and cunning made a world of difference for me. My prior build was mostly going all in on speed/acceleration/stamina, which didn't do so well once I hit the rating 300 races, even at rank 50. In comparison, I was easily winning the rating 300 races in Costa with this build as early as rank 40, usually hitting super sprint right before the steep hill and riding it all the way to the finish line.

Final stats for clearing the last two challenge races, if anyone is curious:

For those worried about the collecting sand part of the relic step, if you're like me and have been stock-piling red scrip tokens over the past couple of patches (gathering or crafting), you can convert them to blue scrip tokens at a rate of 1 red scrip token = 4 blue scrip tokens.

This let me exchange my 112 gathering red scrip tokens I saved to 448 gathering blue scrip tokens, which I then used to buy all of the sand I'll need for the first relic, and a few extra for my second relic.

Now for the 21,000 esoterics.

Is the main story seriously supposed to just take a pause right in the middle of the action like that? I'm most of the way through 46 and just finished "The Black Wolf's Ultimatum." After turning it in, the questgiver had a red icon and I was ever so kindly informed that I should return at level 49 to continue the story.

Am I supposed to just grind levequests and dungeons for 3 levels?

Do your duty roulettes if you haven't been, but if you have: basically, yes, you'd have to grind levequests, fates and dungeons until you hit 49. Beast tribe quests help lighten that load if you've been doing them, but as someone who just leveled an alt through that point it's just as much of a slap in the face as it was back in the day when the only real way to get through it was grinding fates in Northern Thanalan.
